Black History Month

Why is it called 'Black History Month'
Black means void of light
why because we are nonwhite
this should be voted out
because the name Human Race
carries more weight
Sure, I understand
it is a way of denouncing the browner skinned man
Why is it there are tanning booths
for the lighter or paler skinned people of the world
they would rather call us 'boy' or 'girl'
Well, the fact remains we are really the majority
who else is given one entire month to give high esteem to for the accomplishments
of the so-called minority
In all actuality every time that you use your dryer thank G.T. Sampson
or stop at a traffic light thank G. Morgan
you are thanking God Almighty for blessing the person who you call 'black' for the ability to create these valuable worthwhile necessities
So, when you hear of someone having an open heart surgery thank the man of the human race with the browner skin for being the first to perform the first one
Ah, the victories we have won
do not frown
do not fret God will get you, yet
to admit that deep in your heart
we all play a part
in the world being 'it takes all kind to make it go around'
no one is better than the next
however, when you get ready to text
think about Mr. H.T. Sampson who invented it for your leisure
pleasure maybe even a luxury
Or when your horse needs a shoe say a silent 'thank you' to J. Ricks
Can we all just get along
became a catchy realistic reachable phrase from a lighter skinned man who was beaten almost to a bloody pulp for being a man you called 'black' by those of a different shade of skin
jealousy, hatred, discrimination, alienation, poverty, hunger, envy, degradation and demoralization has been shared even experienced by all race
the Human Race

The Light of My World

When the day was dawning sunny and bright
I struggled through the night
weeping for the old and new
then I saw the light
THE LIGHT OF MY WORLD
I thought that I was doomed to live a life of misery and gloom
bobbing like a bottle in the ocean going any which way the current took me
abused, misused, degradation, demoralization, molested, raped over and over
violated in ways unimaginable to my minds eye
deflated was my self esteem until I saw
THE LIGHT OF MY WORLD
I lost everything time and time again
God was with me through it all
although I felt that He had left me too
It was I who turned my back on Him
doing things my way
on a merry go round that went faster causing my head to spin
discombobulated distorting my view on life until I saw
THE LIGHT OF MY WORLD
The eyes of my heart were opened
I stopped crying about the same situation
I lifted my hands in holy reference
to my King Ruler of everything
Lover of my soul
Captain of my sea
He is my all and all
I proclaim to those near and far
THE LIGHT OF MY WORLD
Heavenly Father my Creator
You picked me up
Turned me around
placing my feet on solid ground
Roses blooming for you and me
Lifting me higher and higher
beyond what I can see
I am going to be ready
to see face to face
THE LIGHT OF MY WORLD

If I Were a Beverage

If I were a beverage I would go down smooth
Refreshing tantalizing and mesmerizing thrills
Expressing loudly how tasty I am
Closing your eyes reveling in its abundance of spices
Mulling over in your mind what could this possibly be
I shake you
Roll you beyond your wildest dreams
Wanting to share this flavor with those you know
Willing to risk it on those you do not
Telling the whole world it is needed when you are hot
So good that you will want more than a shot
Gulp it
Guzzle it
Try not to drown
Savoring it
For the lasting
Oh how good it is basking in its depth
Feeling like satin silk or even felt
down to your bones
maybe your toes
throw your head back
and laugh
it is good for the soul
I am a beverage
the Living Water
You shall thirst no more
Filling you up
Here take my cup
Have no selfish desires in your heart
I have loved you from the very start
This is from not just I
But from He Who sent me
You are an Apple of His eye

When You Found Me

I was swimming in sin like a bottle in the ocean going any which way the current took me
I was lost and turned out caught up in the so-called glamour of the streets
Having not been raised in the ghetto fabulous lifestyle I should have known better
But what was I truly being shielded from
I found out very quickly and very quickly I did
Mom warned me that the people in the streets would eat me up for breakfast lunch and dinner
However I ensured her because of the fact that she is my mother that when they spit me out they will spit me out whole
God had mercy on me by not giving me what I truly deserved
And protected me from the destruction and death
Now today I have so much wealth
Spiritually being fed all throughout my life
Ridding myself of envy, evil and strife
I once was lost but now I am found
Was blind now I see
No one felt what I did when Jesus Christ wrapped His loving arms around me
Finding me deep in my despair I did not know this but He was always there
When You found me life took on new meaning
New mercies new joy a renewed Spirit When You found me
Bending my knees bowing my head I rejoiced and said "Thank You"
From the bottom of heart
I know that I must do my part
Holding on to Your unchanging hand
I will lift up my arms and wave them out of unequivocal elation
I am saved from damnation
Rejoice in the LORD
And again I say rejoice
Because when I was lost You found me
O' taste and see that the LORD is good
He gave His life for me and He will do it again
My glad hands are clapping because I am saved from sin!

We Do Recover

Once when darkness seemed the only escape
I felt right at home
Because I succumbed to the reality of the drug
I felt right at home
Although it became the norm deep down inside I knew it was wrong
I felt right at home
I embraced the sensation because it was so elusive
I felt right at home
Unequivocally I could not differentiate the true from the false
I felt right at home
Daddy why I have asked God from time to time because I did not feel right at home any longer
I was fed up with living a lie so to the drug I said Good Bye
No longer burning meaningful bridges
No longer being talked down from the cliff
No longer riding on a merry-go-round of confusion
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel
Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 I am finally free
Lifting my eyes raising my hands stomping my feet
I am bruising the devil's head
I scanned the wide open sea
Thought about the past
Elated I screamed
Free at last
Free at last
Thank God Almighty I am free at last!

Let It Snow

My mother had written in a letter that the snow hides the ugliness of the City
I mulled over in my mind the many ways that this is true
Children having a snowball fight
Snow falling at times very hard that things in front of me were out of sight
Forts and igloos were being built
children sleigh riding without any guilt
As the snow fell on the bare branches and limbs on trees
on the fences and roof tops children running with glee
A snowman rolled and lifted all three
Coals for eyes a carrot as a nose a scarf around the neck twigs for the arms
Some held out their tongue to catch a snowflake or two
After while we noticed the cold in the house we went for a bowl of soup
Once we were warm on again our coats, scarfs and boots went
we would sing Let it snow Let it snow Let it snow
Falling backwards into the snow making snow Angels
trying to make the best one
Mine is better than yours no one was sore but we wanted an adult to keep the score
Our arms and legs going in and out faster harder than the ones laying next to me
Jumping up we grab our sleds looking for the biggest hill we fled
We were not sure of much however there is one thing we will surely know
we wanted God to command it to always snow
Let It Snow Let It Snow Let It Snow

Listen Up

My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not the law of your mother:
These are the holy words of your Heavenly Father, Who loves you like no other
Our Creator used many people to do His bidding such as a voice crying in the wilderness prepare ye the way of the LORD
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, This is My Beloved Son, with Whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!
As long as the desires of your heart are not selfish
God will fulfill them which is more than a wish
He answers prayers heal the sick redeem the lost offer salvation to all
Ask and it shall be given
Seek and ye shall find
Knock and the door shall be open unto thee
Listen up
You will be amazed at His glory His awesome power
Embrace His love for it is never ending unfailing
O taste and see that Lord is good
I say this prayer with all my heart
LORD Jesus Christ, You are the Word of God, and You bring light into my life
May I shine forth Your goodness and grace and bring You honor
Thank God Hallelujah Amen

God's Own Heart

After God's own heart I ran the race
Focusing on enduring to the end
With the eyes of my heart opened seeing God high and lifted up
For the prize of the Crown not a trophy nor money
Reading studying meditating on God's Word writing it all on the table of my heart
Being an imitator of God as a dear child
I know where I have been where I am going
It's the middle that I long to get right in the sight of God Almighty Who is the Great I AM
Those things that I desire to be acceptable and pleasing to Him and Him alone casting down imaginations in the name of Jesus Christ fore it is those distractions that are costly
Seeking God through prayer and meditation is partly the key
It is when I put on the Whole Armor of God that I am connected feeling protected by the One True God Who thought of me before the foundation was formed knowing what His purpose is for my life
I am a bold soldier in the Army of the LORD
A woman after God's own heart
Not always from the start Yes, to the finish
