My Visitor

Something catches me form the corner of my eye
No one's home but I swear someone just walked by
There stands a man just beyond the lower stairs
Startled yet I'm not afraid as he looks at me and stares
I wonder who this presence is who's invading my home
He moves shooting a glance at me and proceeds to roam
Who's this strange man in the shadows Is he watching over me
Is there someone else he might be here to see
Once in a while he shows up to let me know he's here
I wonder if he visits to see someone he holds dear
Is he just letting me know we are not alone
Is he lost and wandering trying to find his way home
This presence some may call a ghost who visits me
My grandson calls him Jack as he can also see
The ghostly presence shows himself just once in a while
When he chooses to drop by he always makes me smile

Lost Innocence

With hope this young girl once dared to dream
She walks in silence from this bewildering scene
She came to this place with innocence and grace
For him to take away and put sorrow in its place
Innocence is gone now only emptiness and regret
He leaves her with a loss she will never forget
Her innocence he took from her that cold winters night
Though she struggled, in the end she crumbled in fright
He tells her it's her fault she asked for it ,can this be real?
She wonder 's why so degraded she's beginning to feel
From this day she will never trust in exactly that same way
As this memory will linger in her mind and forever stay
Long ago this girl lost the one she longed to be
As her dreams were shattered he went his way," free"
Never responsible for his actions there that night
He took what was hers to give in a sacred place that's right
Now he's gone and the nightmares may no longer be there
With Gods grace there will be recovery is my prayer

New Love

Mysteries evolve from birth of new love
Heart floating as if on wings of a dove

Moments of joy become my reality
Softly sensation begins a new sensuality

Butterflies begin their play in the tummy
Kisses sweet and tender taste of honey

Dreams building new ideas to share
Desire for another's happiness you're now aware

Life shared expanding one another's abilities
My heart sores with new found possibilities

I Believe

troubled hearts
                              long for peace
                               wait for relief
                           hope for better days

Old Nightmare

Light flickers from a candle sweet scent subtle in the air
Eyes swollen from a sleepless night still linger there
Shadows dance on the wall from the candles flickering flame
Wondering now if her life will ever be the same
Thoughts impossible to gather in her foggy mind
Muddled memories desperate to leave behind
Forgotten images now linger in the days new light
Old dreams reoccurring causing the sleepless night
Will those dreams of that night forever last
Why is there no freedom from memories past
It seems the reality will always be there to see
Will only forgiveness be what sets her free

My Garden

What got into me I do not know
kneeling in the dirt seeds to sow

I'll plant a garden and watch it grow
I'd forgotten the pain from having to hoe

Those darn weeds so quickly sprout
I bend and strain to pull them out

The heat of sun causing near drought
I water and water so my plants grow stout

What got into my head to take on this task
What were you thinking my sore body asks

Bushes and vines growing hearty as they mature
I'll have plenty to share of that I'm sure

Smiling to myself with some pride in what I see
This plot of earth bringing forth such beautiful bounty

Let Me Forget

Awakened to the stillness in the darkened room
Listen to the night sound as dawn is coming soon
Sleep eludes my weary body as I listen to my mind
Can’t chase away the thought of those words so unkind
Common sense says to let the hurtful words slip away
Must the anger and hurt dwell inside my heart this way
Lift the pain from me is the hearts anguished cry
Kneeling at the bedside I ask the father why
Will the end ever come to the price I've had to pay?
Will forgiveness for my mistakes ever come my way
As I return to lay my head upon my feather pillow
Just because some one says it doesn’t make it so
Doing my best is the way it was supposed to be
If I measure up to him above is what I long to see

Storm

Silence shattered as thunder cracks ripping into the once peaceful night

Crackling flash of electric shock invades the sky in brilliant light

Rain spills from grey looming clouds beating the earth below

The old Oak tree bending to kiss the earth outlined by lightnings glow

Shrill blast as a siren adds it's wail to the once silent night

A dog begins to bark then others join in to express their own fright

Another bolt of sizzling electricity hits the rain soaked ground

As quickly as it came it's gone just spatter of rain the only sound

He Gave Us a Stepfather

The room filled with his beloved family
Watching his life slowly slipping toward eternity
Looking into those tormented eyes
His girls hold each other to soften their cries
Weak and confused as his memory is lost
Holding the hand of each child before he crossed
Loving him was easy for all of us to do
His charm and his stories will linger that's true
Children will remember his personal stash brought joy
Sweets in a drawer to bribe each girl and boy
If you needed a dollar he would give you two
If you needed advice he lovingly gave it to you
Into this family he came later in life
He treasured our mom as his beloved wife
God gave us this blessing and filled hearts with love
We will ever be greatful to the father above

He was not my natural father he was better!

My Therapy

A poets words some times reveal
The inner self and how they feel
Sometime words used to let things go
Of hurt of sorrow that bring them low
Words sometimes meant to liberate
The soul from pain before it is to late
When life experiences boggle the mind
Words written give relief of some kind
So If the poet seems a little low
Take heart it may be their way to grow
