Only a Dream

As she walks nigh.
Shawl flux like waves.
Strides, rhythmic in grace.
Strands of black silk teeming from her head.
Bronze statue,
Then creamy ceramic, that explodes with life.
I breathe, what breath.
It's gone.
Cognition lost.
Speech stifle.
Reaching to touch,
But her eyes still me like salt.
Dreaming, only a dream.
I wake.
She dissipates.
Another drink to sleep.
Please, I beseech thee sleep.
Then she appears.
Allow me to abide here.
Never again to let the windows open,
For the noise is too much,
And the lady's gone.
If my slumber is cessation,
There upon solace.
To behold her fetching smile.
I inhale her aroma.
The sweet moisture of her kiss.
I know I've returned,
For reality can't create her.
Dreaming, only a dream.
I wake.
She dissipates.
Another drink to sleep.
Please, I beseech thee sleep.

Shine

Imagine opening a door and all you see is darkness
Suddenly, you're inside and surrounded by it
Your mind fights to see some light
But you can't focus on anything but the dark
You turn around and glance into the doorway of past happiness
Yet before you, all you can see is despair and anguish
How and why do you move forward?
What is your inspiration to take another step?
Love ones died, failed goals and diminished aspiration
But you feel that you must go on, why?
Why, because you are a one and only
A precious creation like no other
Many can do what you do but no one can do what you do
You are formed to change, influence and inspire a life
Just as these words may do for you
Remember, life is never consistent
Like the weather, it can change at any moment
And just as such, we must prepare for such
There's a coat available that you can put on
Don the coat of love from your family and friends
If you chose to wear, it will shield you from the rain
And the darkness may not be so overwhelming
Darkness and rain is just a state of mind
For at your birth, sunshine was embedded in you
But it's up to you to keep it glowing
Don't let nothing engulf you in that darkness
Your purpose is greater than you think
So shine, as only you can
Shine baby shine, like no other

I Script the Imagination

Our minds bounce between reality and fantasy
Reality is what we see before us. It's what we live
Fantasy is what your dreams have created
And at times the two get blurred together
I deal with the blended area between the two
You see, I script the imagination
And this is where creativity comes to play
I dance within the tortured frame of expectation
I say with words what most tongues lay lax
For the area between the two is the birth place of hope
Not the bote de basure for thoughts to die
That's why I script the imagination
Lean not on your own understanding
Yet trust the middle area of your mind
That place where skepticism rears its head
So utilize that area and make it your friend
Encompass this dark closet and make it your own
As you script your imagination.

I Felt That Breath

I've lived a life full of ups and downs
With happiness and sadness playing like a see-saw
But even during these times that the sun shined
And it seemed all was right in the world
I've felt that breath
I've received love, even though I've never returned it
But the warmth of that feeling is rare
However, during this time as love held me tight
And an assumed joy filled my lungs
I've still felt that breath
I've made lots of money with thoughts that this was the answer
Nice house, nice cars and the amenities of success
As I reveled in my so-called glory
And assessed my fickle empire
I've felt that breath
During my life, I've lost my mother, my child
I've lost my wife, my family. mostly by my doing
I've even lost my life
Not to death but to an unwillingness to live
So, I've felt that breath
It blew on my neck so soothing
That I turned to inhale it in my lungs
My mind had adhered to its call
That I gave rationality to its dark path
That day came, when I saw no other option
And I rose from bed eager to return forever
My plan was to gather all the oval and round children
Biblically speaking, gather them unto me
Anticipating that final breath
However, there was another plan for me
And as the gurney carried the shell
My soul refused to let go
As an echo said; "Get up. For you have more to do."
Now, 15 years later and millions of words scripted
I see what I would have left unheard
So I say to those that feel that breath
You may not see it in you but others need to hear it from you
And no matter how comforting that breath is
Or how inviting the call maybe
Remember; many can do what you do
But no one can do it the way that you do.

30 Best Minutes

She was born and cried for her daddy
I was there to hold her in my arms
She gurgled, with a slight giggle
My heart dropped right then
At goo goo, she hand me in her hands
I can surely say, without a doubt
Those were the best 30 minutes of my life
Her eyes cracked open and she saw me
The man that would love and raise her
That I would lay my life down for her
But she didn't know this, or did she?
The angels in heaven knew, so how could she not?
I can surely say, without a doubt
Those were the best 30 minutes of my life
Mama smiles, as I held our creation
And beaming with joy, my heart pounded
I couldn't believe that this beauty came from me
She coughed and I said; "You're okay baby
Papa got you. No need to worry"
I can surely say, without a doubt
Those were the best 30 minutes of my life
After a few minutes, the nurse asked me to lay her down
But I couldn't because she had my heart
Letting her go would be like relinquishing my life
And as I laid her down. I heard the howls of the hounds
Her eyes stared at me, as to say; "It's okay daddy"
I can surely say, without a doubt
Those were the best 30 minutes of my life
The monitor beeped slowly
Like the bells that toll for thee
Then that painful single line stretched out
As my mother called her home
Along with my heart
I can surely say, without a doubt
Those were the best 30 minutes of my life
Yet, the worst as well

Mina

Gone.
My Child.
Sweet Mina.
A life too short.
Like a breath of air.
A small gift full of love.
Go home my angel,
But wait for me,
Dear Mina.
I'll be,
There.

I Felt That Breath

I Felt That Breath
I’ve lived a life full of ups and downs
With happiness and sadness playing like a see-saw
But even during the times that the sun shined
And it seemed all was right in the world
I felt that breath

I’ve received love, even though I never returned it
But the warmth of that feeling is rare
However, during this time as love held me tight
And a assumed joy filled my lungs
I still felt that breath

I’ve made lots of money with thoughts that it was the answer
Nice house, nice cars and amenities of success
As I reveled in my so-called glory
And assessed my fickle empire
I felt that breath

During my life, I’ve lost my mother, my child
I’ve lost my wife, my family, most by my doing
I’ve even lost my life
Not to death but to an unwillingness to live
So I felt that breath

It blew on my neck so soothing
That I turned to inhale it in my lungs
My mind had adhered to its call
That I gave rationality to its dark path

The day came when I saw no other option

And how inviting the call maybe
Sure, many can do what you do
But no one can do it the way you do.

Eace To Face

Lifer and death have their own place
And rarely do they occupy the same space
But like all things in life, anything is possible
As the mind thinks, imagination makes it probable
So what would you do if you met yourself
Face to face?
Your certain death is only days away
During this time, your real thoughts come into play
The truth of your past, present, your true love and hate
All your deep hidden secrets come flooding through the gates
What would you do if you met yourself
Face to face?
Suddenly, a being comes in that's a mirror copy of you
Their body, their face, their voice and movements are you
However, science couldn't give them your thoughts or memory
Yet they know if you're lying and your true sincerity
So what would you do if you met yourself
Face to face?
Their job is to be you and take over your life
Your job is to tell them who you are, no deceit and no strife
To tell them your deepest pains, secrets and thoughts
Your greatest pride, your hearts desire and unfulfilled goals you sought
So what would you do if you met yourself
Face to face?
You can't lie to yourself, so what would you say?
The true you must come forth with no delay
As you tell yourself who you really are, it hurts like hell
You rip the bandage off the womb and remove the veil
Then you think, they could be a better you for they know who you are
Your pain, they didn't experience yet the hurt they know, by far
To friends and family they have to be you, with all reaction the same
So your job is to make them the best you, for their success is your fame
What would you do if you met yourself
Face to face?
Would you be true to yourself
Or live another life displaced.

A Mouse's Mind Frame

A Mouse's Mind Frame

Everyday I wake, fear grips my existence
Even in my slumber, I dream of my demise
With each step I take outside
There was a worry I would be a predators prize
I must provide for those that depend on me
My presence, how insignificant it may be
While my enemies weight thrice as much as I
The only way to survive is my ability to flee
A brother of mine, just the other day
The piercing eyes of an eagle
Swooped down and within those talons
Made him the daily prey
So I know that my life means very little
For on the food chain, I'm at the least
I am despised by all living thing
And a appetizer for most beast
Some may ask, "Why do you even wake up each day,
Knowing that you are ill-relevant to most?"
As I lay my head down at night
I wonder and ask the same to the host of host
The answer that I receive is that I'm valuable
That at any second, I can change or save another's trajectory
I'm not just a discarded page
For I am an intricate part of life's story
So I wake each day, not for everyone's purpose
But for that single one's greater good
I smile with my heart and mind, as the day goes on
Because my life is about more than me, just as it should be

                                                                   K. Charles Latimer

Aura of Quietus

A bouquet of the vestiges of our gall
An aroma that we all parade
With an essence we can't abate
One day it shall encompass us all
For we are inevitable to the fall
And that sinewy scent gives us no shade
From that quietus, not willing to fade
But when we enter the gates, we shall be shawled
Let that last fragrance trumpet our arrival
As we cross the everlasting sea
Cause those that greet us are only tribal
But if your name is ascribed in the book of the bible
The the scent of quietus will set you free
For only our transgressions, we are liable.
