Shhh

Simple solitude
lord of my surroundings
ample in the light.

Desert Peace

Desert Peace

Man's desire to live apart
   savage and unruly.
Hiding out among misfits;
   kindred spirits.
Entwining allegiances
bask softly in the desert sun,
desperate to find a peace.
Peace that blooms in every soul,
each one at his own pace.
Growling and groveling until havoc is wracked
and there is nothing more left to bleed.
Summon strength from the hearts weakness.
Commit thyself doubly,
as you would a passion pursuit.
A lonely soul is one whose direction is misspent.
Live as the lizards and mice and hawks do.
Quiet, peaceful-obedient to self.

Winter

A black dove
migrates North
when the first snowflake falls.

Sparrows

Flock of sparrows
change direction
darting above my head.

Lasting

Lasting

Your smile has lit my heart from the inside, more times than I can count.
Your face stirs within me a twinge burrowed within my breast. Innate magic that is enlivened only in your presence.
I stand to your countenance, facing those cool, brilliant eyes and feel the sinking within me.
The falling of my defenses that I know are not within me to halt.
Your lips have always been my weakness, pulling me in, at their own behest.
Pockets of rebellion diminish and slowly exude from my pores.
I long for the floor to fall from beneath my feet, undoing what I have done with the day.
Small but numerous bursts fire within me, begging for permission to submit.
Exercising independent will is fruitless in your way.
I gravitate to you as aviary populations ascend and begin their flight south.
Beckoned by instinct, I have always been called to be by your side.
Nature overwhelms me and I revert to the only reaction that makes sense to me.
To be near you, with you, part of you.

Cyotes

The coyote's cry, off key
hair, on my neck, at attention
I lean out to hear.

Lines

My body's soft lines
surprise me when unveiled
nothing gets past light.

Ashamed

Ashamed
I see what you have and I want it.
I am immediately ashamed.
   Indignant over the fact that these feelings could breed with in me;
dismayed at the buckeye of truth that may lie dormant.
Time has a way of encouraging one on their way.
To feel crowded and herded onto the paths that are tamped down before us.
Expectation in the abstract is just a thought.
However, once that possibility comes anywhere near, it is time to move on.
   An epiphany cures all.
