Patricia Smith Poem
Your hands all weathered and lined
From tales of the past
With quilted squares and patches
Sewn from the hundred memories
The rainbow of colors
Strips, rectangles, stars and fan designs
Making each piece an orginal
With beauty of its own
From great-grandma African wedding dress
To great-grandpa's field pants
Your Sunday dress and papa's Army pants
Form a warm and loving blanket
Keeping you warm and tightly snug
On the coldest winter night
Seeking peace and comfort
In the quiet of the night
Until the early morning sun
Passing a gift from generations down
Peace and love to you
For starting the history of my family tree

Patricia Smith Poem
As I look to the heavens above
I close my eyes and pray for true love
Though many years have come to pass
I thank the Lord for you at last
Your gentle words and tender touch
Makes my life mean so much
You allowed me to experience something hard to find
Unconditional love that exist in my body, soul and mine
It's been almost thirty years ago, you came into my life
Never expecting that one day, I would become your wife
You are the one that I desire
Because you fill my heart with this burning fire
Whenever we get angry, it makes me blue
And no matter what I say or do
I want you to know
I'll forever and ever love you true
