Ignition

The days pass slowly in cold repose
Futile as the frozen clock upon the wall
Without movement, there is no purpose
Without purpose, there is no reason
Without reason, there is cold repose
Shrouded in gauze beneath the world.

The day will come, the hour will strike
Comfort cast aside
Stairs descended in easy stride
Doors flung open, windows unhung
Breath alone will draw the clouds from the sun
Inhaling deep, the grey within
Emerging red, filled to the brim
With fire and love cast cross the skies
For no flame ever dies
Where a single spark survives.

G-A-P-S

True meaning, the true Universe
Beyond all masquerades and interpretations
Is hiding in solitude
Lingering playfully in the quiet mind
Consisting of...
The gaps between stars
On a cold, clear December night
And you, awestruck
Transfixed by myriad stars and nebulae
Oblivious to the gaps,
The binding nothingness in between
In which the true Universe remains unseen.

The Line

Today I walked the railway line
Far outside of town
Far from all the friends I've known
And the ones who cut you down
Mused on my achievements
Met failures with a frown
Something restless deep within
Keeps me coming back around.

Forever chasing shadows
Fighting battles lost long ago
Deciphering the cruelty
That many long to show
Not all those who wander are lost
A verse pinned to my mirror read
For it surely is a winding path
That to this moment, led.
