Happy Birthday Daughter

Happy birthday baby and my first born
Created by God for me to adorn
From the top of your head down to your tiny little toes
You were cute as a button as everyone knows
Seeing you all grown up, looking at what you've become
Is the sum total of many prayers and the blessings of some
You are wise for your years, this I can tell
By the decisions you make, you learn lessons well
You are tough and you're strong, please stay that way
You'll need this type of strength as your hope and stay
You are self motivated, self reliant and a self starter, too
You complete whatever you start when you do what you do
You are straight forward, mean exactly what you say
There is o confusion ever, you are clear that way
You are loving and kiknd, always giving your best
You can be depended on, relied upon, there's no test
Respectful and obedient you've always been
Loving you is a pleasure, a sure nough win
I love you dear daughter from the depts of my heart
Letting you know how I feel is just a start
I thank God for His precious gift 31 years ago
I'll cary you with me no matter where I go

A Gift From Heaven

You are a gift from heaven made from above
Fashioned and shaped for me to love
Power and strength you possess
I wouldn't have settled for anything less
Patient and kind and honorable are you
Wisdom and knowledge is added too
You give from the heart and that's a plus
Something I can believe in and that I can trust
A miracle happened the day we met
I know you were for me I must confess
You are the essence of the air I breathe
I thank God for sending you, He knew my need

She Is

She's an Angel, she's a gift and she comes from above
She's a nurturer, she's a provider, she gives all her love
She's strength in a bottle poured out when needed
Her advice is a blessing when graciously heeded
She's honest, she's courageous, gentle, and sweet
Yet, she's the toughest little lady you'd ever want to meet
She's humble, she's meek, so full of God's grace
She has that look of great peace upon her face
She's a shoulder to cry on, encouragement you'll find
She's tender, she's loving and oh so kind
Who is this woman created by God
She's not just anyone, she's my Mom

My Flight

Toay is a new day, yesterday is gone
Tomorrow is the future, so sing a new song
So happy and carefree I could fly
On wings of an angel up oh so high
Through clouds of glory though hard to see
What's going on below down under me
Feeling afraid that I might fall
"Fear not" a voice sweetly called
My fears dissipated and I felt secure
In order to succeed, I had to endure
So I girded up my loins and held on tight
I was ready and willing to take the flight
Sometimes life will take you to high places on hinds feet
Often times you'll want to turn and then retreat
But continue to go forward and strive for the best
You'll be glad you did, you'll pass the test
Be courageous, be strong in what will be
No matter the course, have faith in Thee

Love In the Hood

I've heard that love is great and love is good
It doesn't exist where I live in the hood
There's fussin and fightin from dusk to dawn
It's a rare occassion to experience a calm

Wonder what it fells like to feel safe and secure
Without trying to figure whether it's real or obscure
Happiness seems to be an illusion that really doesn't last
Something only talked about in someone else's past

I became angry and bitter right down to the core
Til hope came one day and knocked at my door
With nothing to loose, my mind at bay
I said, "come in, come in please show me the way".

A reflection of light, a glimmer I saw
The vision was cloudy, I had to see more
Should I go in? What's in store for me?
The answer lied in entering and that was the key

There was a light so bright I could hardly see
But a voice said softly "trust, follow me"
I was somewhat weary, not sure what do do
Then I thought to myself, what did I have to loose

I continued to follow this light so shinny and bright
And that was the day I received my sight
See, a soul full of darkness blinds the eyes
But the truth gives light while dispelling the lies

The fear and the pain that plagued me for years
Was now turned to joy and happy are my tears
Things have never been so clear, never felt so free
I thank God every day for His blessing down on my knees

I've learned how to receive but its better to give
The beginning of a new life now I must live
Love is great and Love is good
Now I carry this message to those in the hood
