Modern Man

Today's man,
Drinks liquor
as fish water,
Has vile language
enough to peel
wallpapers
off a wall;
And the moral of
a stray alley cat,
The man adoring
man.

Overcomer

Christian lose not heart,
For that is the loss of every thing,
For he has not promised,
The tempest to prevent,
Neither affliction to forestall,
Nor travail to avert;
But

Keep preciously your heart,
Amidst life's stream and,
Maintain an undefeated front,
In the face of life's difficulties,
For the promise to you is that,
You shall not be overcome,

Then
Gird your heart with faith,
And keep your heavens or,
You soon lose your earth,
Remember that the Lord thinks
On you always, preparing ahead;
For you long before you awake.

Music

ancient hills
                            resound with strains
                               of music tones

Enchants

watching brooks
                                      assuage over some
                                        stones enchants

Peace

When your most cherished object is removed ,
And your life's light seems to go out,
When disappointments dodge your steps,
And your schemes fail through;

          Remember the word that says,
My peace I give to you,
          not as the world gives
that your joy may be full.

When your labours bring in no reward,
Learn to bow your head to say,
Your love is better than wine,
Don't stop short of this blessed experience.

           Remember.....................

The Holy Spirit, the true wine of life;
Drops into your heart these words,
From God's very throne of grace,
And distills an infinite peace.

            REmember.....................

Disciple's Calculus

Count it all joy,
                  Counting is not sentimental,
                  But cold unerring calculation,

                               As we press on,
                          we count the dangers,
             oppositions, discouragement, sorrows,
              depressions, temptations, desertions,
                       with difficulties on every side.

                          Summing up the bits,
                     we are enveloped in God's,
              abiding presence, peace, happiness,
                    depth in knowing Him, maturity,
                      glory,and becoming like Him.

                        Adding up the sum,
                    we see God's promises,
                   are unfailing and His will,
                is being fulfilled with rewards,
          and recompense awaits the disciple.

                                   Then
                          the total sum is,
                  all joy with unspeakable glory.
                   Since the present sufferings,
cannot at all be compared with,
the glory to be revealed in us,
                             who believe.

Let's Worship

O come, let us worship the Lord;
Kneeling down before him,
Let us bow down in worship,
For he is our maker and God.

Worship Him all you His people,
The sheep of His hand,
Let us listen to His voice,
And do His bidding to us.

O worship the Lord,
In the beauty of holiness.
Let us fear before Him,
All you the whole,earth.

Worship Him all you gods,
Exalt the Lord our God,
Worship at His footstool,
For He alone is Holy.

New Heart

Create a new heart
within me,
An eager, beating
bounding heart,
A heart vibrating in
response to your love.

Let me feel the passion and
pathos of life, of your life.
And be taken captive by
Your bountiful love!
Catching the spell of
your loveliness!

Make me thrilled at the
sound of your footsteps!
And to learn the rapture
of hearing your name!
Being absolved in the
glory of your person.

Let me experience the
glow of excitement,
When the murmur
runs around,
Jesus of Nazareth
passes by!

Then will the weariness
of my heart,
And the languor of
my spirit cease,
Setting my soul
at full liberty.

For the liberty of
my flight is,
The Sabbath of my soul
that soars as the eagles,
I will not faint
nor be weary evermore.

New Interests

I want a new interest
                    to heal,
          My heart's weariness,
           Someone to live for
                and work for;
            The one to wait for
                  and long for.

             This my unfulfilled
                     longing,
             Makes my want of
                      strength,
              my listlessness
        brings my languidness.

            I need to encounter
           this healing interest,
           to cure my festering,
              wandering mind;
            Setting its thinking
                    at rest,
          By your loving kindness
                   O my God.

Loneliness

Companions close maybe,
       Comfort and inspiration give,
But inner meaning of life cries,
             Live apart and alone.

       None can answer your questions,
Nor make your decisions and choices,
         Or your responsibilities take,
             You are alone to relate.

All alone you believe or repine,
All alone you render an account,
Of all your deeds at the judgement,
         You alone all by yourself.

God calls one man to stand for him,
Such a man faithful and worthy,
         Would stand without sympathy,
          Or encouragement, all alone.

Lone souls to the battle of truth.
            Have out of disheartenment;
               And despondency fought,
Shouts of victories are heard far and near.
