Happy

I am happy
The happiest I have ever been
I has been many years that I have felt this secure and happy
But my happiness is not superficial
It is emotional,
from the high spirits that my loved ones leave me in.
It is from care,
because all my friends provide me with with everyday.
It is from support,
because even when I'm wrong, there is someone still on my side.
It is from touch,
because whenever I need a hug, there is one waiting for me.
It is from laughs,
because by God, my friends are some of the funniest people to grace my life.
It is from smiles,
because there is never a dull moment between friends
It is from family,
because I have gained a few new members.
And it is from love,
because there is an abundance of it in my life now.

The Hard Part

forget

the hurt
the sad days
the grey
the past.

focus

on the happy
on the brighter days
on the blue skies
on the now.

Loves

There are millions of loves.
There are the loves that come in seasons;
The winter that covers you in white,
So innocent, yet so deadly if you let it sit on you too long,
Suffocating you under its beautiful yet heavy and thick snow.
The spring that brings you flowers,
It dances in meadows with you, admiring the flowers that have grown,
Yet makes you sick whenever you smell them because you have discovered that pollen
Is only okay in small doses for you,
And too much can become a bother.
The summer that brings you long days,
Enough time for you to spend the day light together,
Enjoying the warmth, it brings you and the gold glow it brings your skin.
But hating the long nights of heat and thundering rain
Making you wonder why you ever liked summer at all.
The fall with its different colored leaves,
Walking passed the trees admiring their strength to hold on,
And realizing they are even stronger when they must let go,
Because even they know they are only around for the season.
Then there are the lifelong loves,
The kind of love that wakes you up in the middle of January at 3 am because they’re cold,
And could use your warmth instead of the blanket they’re under.
The kind of love that drags you to the April carnivals,
You may have to visit a CVS to grab a Benadryl but you don’t mind falling asleep on the Ferris wheel.
The kind of love that doesn’t mind sitting under the stars with you in the middle of July,
It might start to pour, but his love doesn’t mind dancing in the rain for a while,
Even though this kind of love might be pissed when you get their seats wet.
The kind of love that loves walks in the middle of September,
Summer will never look the same because this kind of love changes with the leaves,
It looks the same, yet different;
Just as beautiful as you remember it last year,
It’s colors are just as vibrant on the tree as they are on the ground,
This kind of love is just as strong because it too realizes that the seasons may change,
But they always come back.
It is easy to confuse a season with a lifetime when you become accustomed,
Cold nights can be warm enough for you to forget your chills,
Red puffy eyes are easily remedied with eye drops that hide tears,
Thunder and lightning are easily forgotten once the sun comes out,
Changing leaves are easy to ignore once they’ve been walked over.
A lifetime love will teach you the difference between staying warm together
And grabbing a blanket for yourself
Going to CVS after day in the park, instead of going home to your medicine cabinet,
Learning to dance in the rain, rather than ignoring the storm,
Admiring the beautiful colors and missing them once they are gone, rather than being relieved
Because they have finally fallen.

Care

I will always care,
That is a blessing and a curse.
It's a burden Im willing to bare;
To always put you first
So when you walk by I'll stare,
Even when it hurts.
We were the perfect pair,
Even at our worst.
I will always care,
It's a blessing and a curse.
It's a burden I will always bare,
I'll always put you first

Scars

I have many scars. They’re healed wounds. Their browns, pinks, and tans cover me. Burns, paper cuts, and falls have caused them. Some incidents more painful than others. Some I can't even remember. These scars are said to give me character; a uniqueness that no one can duplicate. They make me special. But I have other scars. Scars that are not a physical attribute. Scars on my heart for example. Scars in my mind. Some wounds may heal, but the pain is always there. The physical gives you a uniqueness, but the psychological truly scars you; makes you who you are. They shape your outlook on life. My heart has endured wound after bitter wound; scarred up for life. I do my best to protect it, to keep that last past scar free. I have many scars. I have many different kinds of scars. They make me who I am. I wear them bravely as I stumble about in life. I am unafraid of who sees them. They make me who I am, and I just so happen to like who I am.

For Me

this one is for me
where I congratulate myself thus far
for making it passed all the obstacles of life
for passing by the skin of my teeth through school
for making connections with people I may not have liked before, but now I care for
for waking up every morning and loving myself
for giving myself credit, where credit is deserved
for forgiving myself for mistakes in the past
for taking my past to build a brighter future
for allowing people in; to love and to be loved
for loving myself more than I will ever love anyone
for hoping for a brighter tomorrow
for having faith in the next generation
for praying for the peace of this world
for seeing the good in everyone
for not taking this life for granted
for just living my life
this one is for me

Anger

Am I wrong to be angry?
Is is wrong to be upset?
How can it be?
I care.
I get angry when you are too selfless,
I get upset when you health is put behind the health of others.
How can it be wrong to be concerned for you?
You hold a special place in my life,
in this one and the next.
Why would it ever be wrong to voice my anger for you not caring
about yourself the way I care about yourself?
I am not wrong in being angry
I am right to be upset,
it will never be wrong to care about you.
Cause if you don't, than I will.
