Victim of the Night

I've become a victim of the night
the predators they howl my name.
Heads raised up with their pride,
a haunting silence in their taunting stride,
waiting for me to come their way.
Once the dark night hides the sun,
the greatest devourers have temporarily won
for within the depths of my mind they stay.
All at once, they swarm, they stalk,
overwhelming me, encircling me, as I start to fall.
I'm caving in and I want to break
to protect myself I ease into a mindless escape.
Then as the dark night slowly turns to day
they leave me to be left in this vacant state.
When I arise from my wake a foolish relief to find
there's a short absence from their taunting stride.
But once the dark night hides the sun,
again I hear the predators ignite their cry,
and I've become a victim of the night.

I Am One With the Stars

I am one with the stars.
I see them in the sky.
I see them in your eyes.
I see them in your heart.
And I become connected.
I become one with
the essence,
the differentially,
of the beauty they behold.
And I become the stars,
I become the sky,
and I become the beauty
that is held in your eyes.
My heart becomes yours,
and your heart mine.
I am one with the stars.

'hatred' Is the Thing With Claws

(Based off an Emily Dickenson poem)

"Hatred" is the thing with claws-
that slices through us all-
And leaves a wound without it healed-
And captured for- its thrall-

And torn- by its embrace- with pride
And infects what it leaves behind-
That love could be its mend
that keeps our hearts enshrined-

I've seen it rip and tear lives-
And play with them like prey-
Yet, never, in experience
it suppresses love with- its pain.

I'Ll Shut Down

Creating the fumes of anger
vicious claws gripping inside me.
Desperation to conquer,
battling to control me.
It wants out to influence
the world that's around me.
And I won't let it... will I let it?
A screaming soul caused by the slashing,
only to be muffled by my concealing.
I shut it out, I shut down.
And if I don't feel at that moment,
nothing has the power to dominate me.
So I shut down, I shut down.
A sort of relief in its silence,
fought back with my claim of defiance.
Yet, its just a claim... only a claim.
And if you happen to ask me,
and if you happen to be concerning,
I'll shut down, I'll shut down.

Insecurities

Insecurities,
they can about bury you alive.
Yet, we all fall deep
into their depths.
How much longer till we all kneel
beneath the torment?
No one really knows.
No one really notices.
Is there an end
to the nonsense we make
of ourselves?

In My Dream

In my dream,
I am happy,
and full of love that
radiated inside and out
of my soul.
In my dream,
I am lost in the moment.
And I laughed,
a laugh that defined the whole
meaning of laughter.
In my dream,
was a dream,
a desire,
of what I want,
what I hope to have,
forever.
In my dream,
I didn't understand,
but I didn't have to understand.
And I was content.
