Its Hell To Get Old

When I was young older ladies thought me charming
Sweet and cute and totally disarming
But now that I've grown closer to their age
They seem no longer anxious to engage
In amorous and peccadillish roles
They only want to feed me casseroles.

Musings

There was a time when had we met
We'd have rushed to take what we could get
We'd have felt the heat of passions fire
We'd have reveled in our deep desire
For these are the things that lovers do
When damp with feverish sweat they woo
But sadly, perhaps, we met when we
Were past that stage in life you see
Cruel time has cooled our ardors
So now we are likers, not lovers.

Old School

When I was a kid wearing a lid
Was something that most people did
And everyone knew
There were things you do or not do
When wearing that hat on your head
If you wished to be seen as well bred
Never, never would you leave it on your dome
When you were in somebody's home
You'd be considered crass and crude
The epitome of rude
If you left it on your head
When in someone's homestead
And to wear it while you ate
Is something one can't even contemplate
But today it seems there are no rules
No no's, no don'ts no ridicules
And the thing that worries me is that
It applies to more than just the hat.
