Once Broken, But Not Destroyed!

As I look back over my life, my heart was broken but I wasn’t destroyed,
Many people tried to take advantage of me like I was some kind of a toy.
When I was a child, I had this fixation that I knew what love is all about,
I cried a lot because that was the only way for me to get things out.
As a teenager, I lost the dearest person to me, who was my mother,
I was angry with God because the pain that I felt was like no other.
My parents taught me how to be the best Christian all I can be,
When I finally got to know God for myself, I was definitely set free.
As I became older I carried around so much hurt and so much pain,
I know I wasn’t easy to deal with, but the family must have felt drained.
At times I had to express my anger by fighting and hurting myself,
The more I keep writing, one day I will see my book on the bookstore shelf
The most devastating thing I remember was the time I was raped,
At the time it was happening I didn’t have the strength to escape.
It also hurt when no one had faith enough to believe in me,
I tried to deal with the rape by becoming rebellious as I can be.
I thought by going to talk to a psychiatrist would have helped replace my anger,
Instead of making things better, he just helped himself on me and putting me in
danger.
I didn’t want to live after all these things that happened in my life,
If I had killed myself, today I wouldn’t have become a wife.
A lot of people thought that I wouldn’t make something of myself,
They would look down on me like I was some kind of weird elf.
Through all of this, God showed me what TRUE love was all about.
I have to give him all the praise and honor with a loud shout.
I was a type of person that was definitely misunderstood,
I just wanted somebody to take the time out with me if they could.
Well, the devil thought that I was destroyed but I was yet broken,
I can truly say that I’m no longer his rebellious T-O-K-E-N

Am I Too Young To Die

Many of our youths today think that they are too young to die,
They don't realize that the devil has blinded them by telling so many lies.
It's ok to be in church and still have some type of fun,
Why do I see so many of the young people dying by someone with a gun?
It's sad to see them killing each other or trying to take their own life,
We need to stop all of this hate, envy, jealousy, and even strife.
It is so dangerous to take advantage of God's mercy and his grace,
Do you think you could get by and never stand before him to see his heavenly
face?
There are many parents burying their children who died before their time,
Some of the youth want to live on the streets by being drug addicts, alcoholics, or
committing a crime.
There are many young people asking the question, "Am I too young to die?"
Don't let Satan trick you & steal your soul because Heaven will slip you by.
It doesn't matter to God how old or young you really are,
He's right there waiting for you to come into your heart and he's not far.
You see I was once a teenager tricked by Satan's many different devices to get
me out there and to be lost,
I thank God my parents didn't have to bury me because that would have been a
tragedy and at what cost.
From the youth eyes they think the world is having so much fun out there,
They don't realize that they could lose their soul and would Satan really care?
My heart goes out to the youth because a lot of them is looking for love in the all
of the wrong places,
They are carrying around so much pain & hurt that you could see it on their faces.
I'm here to tell you that there is hope and things will seem brighter on tomorrow,
You don't have to carry all of your burdens and hold on to all of that sorrow.
God loves you so much that he gave his only Son so you don't have to perish,
Please don't think that you are too young to die because your soul God does
cherish!

A Mother's Love

A mother’s love is a rare and special thing,
It’s like being carried on an eternal wing.
As you listen to the sound of her precious voice,
When she gives you life, it’s the right choice!
The moment the doctor laid you in her arms,
You feel safe and especially warm.
Once you look up to see your mother’s face,
Her heart is over joy and begins to race.
A mother’s love should never be taken lightly,
She makes you feel secure and holds on tightly.
As she watches you begin to grow,
She wants to teach you everything she knows.
She tries to instill the morals and value of life,
so that you may make somebody a good husband or a good wife.
She listens to everything you have to say,
She will make time for you no matter what comes her way.
Sometimes she faces struggles as hard as they seem,
She wants you to live up to your potential and pursue your every dream.
She can see so much inside of you until you don’t understand,
Don’t worry she won’t mislead you; just hold on to her hand.
A mother’s love goes beyond the duty and beck of a call,
She wants to guarantee and hope that you will never fall.
Every time you get hurt she wants to wipe away your tears,
With her guidance and strength, you can face your fears.
Don’t take advantage of your mother’s love,
You can slip it on your hand, like a perfect glove.
I would like to dedicate this poem to all the mothers that are still here,
Just to look at my mother one more time, it will definitely bring on tears.
My mother died at the young age of forty-two,
It was something hard for me, my brothers, and sisters to go through.
Even though my mother is not here, she’s still in my heart,
I thank God for giving me a brand-new start!
I’m going to cherish every moment me and my mother had,
The beautiful smile on her face made me feel glad.
So each time I see a pure white and innocent dove,
It makes me think of a mother’s L-O-V-E

How Many Times

When I first wrote this, I put it in a form of a song,
I decided just to say it and I promise it won't be long.
I wrote these words from the bottom of my heart,
just take the time to listen to me and this is how it starts....
How many times that I can say,
I love you more in so many ways.
The ways that you make my heart complete,
I feel as though I've been set free!
The love that we share is so rare and true,
I thought I would never find someone like you!
From the first time I saw your face,
My heart pounded at such a pace.
I found a friend so faithful and true,
I know in my heart I'll always be with you!
When I'm in your arms I feel secure,
And it's only you that I adore.
There's nothing right now that I would want more.
I realize that I am sure that I love you, that I love Y-O-U!
How many times that I can say,
My love for you would never go away.
As I lay to sleep, it's no longer a dream,
Our love for each other is more than what it seems.
I cherish your love that it brings,
Being with you it's a special thing!
No matter what we've been through,
I know it was meant for me to be with you,
I yearn for you so deeply now,
When I see your face, I will always SMILE.
So I promise you on our wedding day,
My love for you would grow in such a way.
There's nothing right now that I would want more,
I realize that I am sure that I love y-o-u, that I LOVE Y-O-U!
