Michael

Dark-skinned boy from Laventille,

you caught me by surprise,

like a shining sapphire stone

spotted at a landfill.

Dark-skinned boy from Laventille,

friendship was all I wanted until

somehow your wizardry weakened my will.

The tender touch of your kindness drew me

while the scent of your cologne confused me;

Without knowing it, you have innocently mastered the art

of making love to my mind to capture my heart.

So much natural and faultless charm lies

in the intelligent twinkle of your dark brown eyes.

The pure admiration in your wistful stare

seems to echo the emotion of how much I care.

Dark-skinned boy from Laventille, a writer I am, but my vocabulary is limited;

my words are few.

For there are no words that can rightly express

how deeply I am in love with you.
