Daddy

Remember how you'd come home and
you'd lift me up and we'd go crazy dancing
to the rhythm of the newspaper man...
do you remember Daddy?
Remember how you'd go to the rooftop
and take me along and we'd search
for the seven sages hiding in the sky...
do you remember Daddy?
Remember how you'd be really tired
and i'd ask you to tell me a story and
you'd tell me a story but i'd fall asleep...
Daddy, do you remember?
anything at all?
do you remember me ?
do you know me Daddy??

No Time For Farewell

I lay beside someone
I seem to know.
A stranger I've known all my life,
I look at who is beside me,
I see a face with a smile.
A smile hoping to find
remembrance in mine.
I don't find what the smile
asks from me,
for it's getting late and
there's no time.

Though hesitant, lets me go.
Smile intact, tears lay unseen
underneath.
For the choice is mine to make,
And not for tears to stop.
I get to my feet and
walk away.
I turn around one last time
to the face and the smile it bore.
but found neither, for both had left.
It was my choice to leave ,
and now there's no time.

Through the Tinted Glass

I see you through the tinted glass,
you're blurry but your image
like crystal pierces my mind.
I hear you from behind velvet drapes,
You're distant but your laughter
like candlelight gently burns in my chest.
I ask you from where I stand
"Can you hear me? Can you see me?"
hoping to find light in your silence.

Wanderers and Home

where are you running off to, Oh wind?
There are no devils to chase you,
and nothing can stand in your way.
you are always born and Death
can never hold you in his arms.
yet you seem lost, restless
wandering through space and time
here and there, here and there.
For ever everywhere.

Where do you go wind? where is your home?
Or do you like me have no such place?
then shall we be companions;
wandering to places and times
unknown. In search
among the ruins you and I created.
May we go in search?
And if such a place is never found,
and nothing but hope survives,
may we remain together?
Endless wanderers, in this eternity.

The Old House

The past, a time and space that no longer exists,
I'm talking about the past in my mind.
In the dark pit of memory, I can only drown today.

In an old house, the smell of ancestors long gone.
The sounds of footsteps on cold, black floors.
Floors that have been walked on infinite times
So that it is broken and torn with holes.
The sounds of people,screaming,crying,laughing.
About what you'd ask me...

About how their children always cried on birthdays
and about how the chicken was undercooked.
About how the older men went hunting
and how they bought their first car.
About unmarried aunts and illicit affairs of town.
About the time they were kings and why they still were.
About how they were always stuck in that old house
Just a leap away from paradise.
They spoke of miserly things and firecrackers.
They spoke a lot of these things out loud,
And Some they spoke to the walls.

The old house is a pit. Dark with the truths about me
And people like me. It's a pit in the center of
My being and there is nothing I can do about it.

The Neverborns

Slightly breathing, just breathing
they wait to live.
In the warmth of their homes they remain.
Unknown to whom they belong.

There is love for them,
no one will ever know.
And care that no one can ever show,
For short liven are their destinies.

Their lives were like the moment between
Dawn and day, Dusk and night...
Small and fleeting. Passing by in a slow frenzy,
their powerless heartbeat and final fight.

Their absence has changed everything.
what if they'd been around, right now?
turning back time, I wish
was a possibility somehow.
