Lord this is my prayer as a doctor each and every day...
Help me to always help someone in some meaningful way
Let me not wounds others already hurting with lackadaisical words today
Lace my tongue with mercy I earnestly pray
Guide me each moment so that my therapeutic footsteps do not falter
Help me so that at least one person's pain I may with your healing power alter
Direct my mind to industriously take in every important detail
Assist me to stay optimistic and resolute even when I fail
Take control of these hands so they may do impressive works
Give me the patience of a saint to solve the things that do irk.
Aid me to remember that I am human but together we can accomplish much
Guide my hands to always provide the most gentle and compassionate touch
Remind me every day lest I forget the reason I became a physician
Help me remember there are more important things than my commission
Guide my lips when I speak to a patient regarding their condition
Let me rejoice with a grateful heart when I can say the word remission
Lord let me never forget the importance of each of the duties I perform
Let me never become so prideful that I overlook the lives we can transform
Lord help me to remember how important a smile can be
To someone who feels hopeless and afraid and is looking to me

An A+ teacher does their best to make a child smile
And they take the time to listen for a while
An A+ teacher does not worry when dealing with a class of over twenty
They simply take control, steering young minds to learn plenty
An A+ teacher is good at captivating young hearts
They are always dedicated to doing more than their part
An A+ teacher is a positive influence in a child's life
Always there to give direction and advice
An A+ teacher is one who puts in extra hours often unseen
They learn quickly to deal with things that cannot be foreseen
An A+ teacher fully dedicates their life to others
And every year they trade one group of students for another
An A+ teacher often stays up late with papers to grade
And then gets up early to go to a job for which they are underpaid
An A+ teacher encourages learning in young minds
And does their best at the job they are assigned
An A+ teacher gets no bonus for each child they encourage
And often have to pick themselves up when they are discouraged
I am so glad my child has an awesome teacher with a capital A
A big heartfelt thank you is all I know to say!!

"Kenny"
I remember the stories I made up to escape my childhood.
I thought that would ease the pain and for a while they could.
One day I realized my soul was hungering for so much more.
It was then I found myself standing in front of a small church door.
It was there I met a sweet boy by the name of Kenny.
He was my first love and helped me to see so clearly
The thing I had been searching so hard for years to find
Had always been there and all I needed was a made-up mind
It would bring tears to my eyes to hear Kenny sing "Because He Lives"
And it was through that song that I discovered the ultimate gift God gives.
One day I was so humbled I made my way to an old-fashioned altar
Quickening with each step as to ensure that my legs would not falter.
It was there through salvation; I discovered his mercy and grace
I now completely understood why because he lived tomorrow I could face
That night the words in that song began to hold a whole new meaning for me
The words which were sang so beautifully by a boy named Kenny
I know that God had a purpose when he put Kenny and his family in my life
It was so I could finally see his goodness was there even in all the strife
I am blessed beyond words could express to have found Jesus in that church
It was on that special night in August 1994 when I first felt his majestic touch
I do not even know how to begin to express how much it still means
As his new lamb, my sins were washed in the blood until I was spotless and clean
Kenny, even though we may have not meant to be anything other than friends
I now know he had a purpose when your family into my life he did send
My life was completely filled with darkness until that one glorious day
When Jesus came into my heart, shined his light, and showed me the way
With such sweet grace when we ask humbly in his name he forgives
And Kenny, you should know my life is worth the living just "Because he Lives"
