Life Through a Child's Eyes

I hear the children laugh and wish I was that care free
If only there was some way I could see what they see
The children take the time to stop and smell the roses
There is always a solution to the problems life poses
A world of wonder,the many possibilities,and surprise
Care free and curious with the look in children's eyes
That says all of those wheels are turning in their head
And their imagination that is out of this world as well
They'll keep trying no matter how many times they fell
We all try teach them right from wrong or things to do
But in the end they end up teaching: us a lesson or two

Stuck In Time

Just this small little town abandoned years ago
Where everyone went nobody will ever know
Once thriving with most working assembly line
That was until things came in by freight line
A town once with a downtown that was thriving
Now a town with zero possibility of reviving
Left untouched as if someone will welcome me
Frozen in time as if it was still nineteen forty
Holiday decorations were yet to be taken down
Closed signs remaining on doors downtown
Stores still stocked as it would have appeared
Dusty from sitting there over so many years
Those passing through today can only imagine
Why the town was abandoned and forgotten

A Lazy Afternoon

Snuggled by a fire sipping a hot cup of tea
There is a chill in the air and it's really breezy
It feels as if the temp is twenty nine below
Candles have all been lit creating a soft glow
Wrapped up in a quilt handed down to me
Made by hand with lots of love by my granny
While the snow's beginning to come down
It covers the ground and trees that are brown
On a cold winter's day it is the perfect spot
For me to get lost in a book that I just bought
The place all to myself and a book to read
Now all the kids are gone it's just what I need

Welcome Old Man Winter

In towns east to west across so many nations
From hills to valleys and the higher elevations
Old man winter has paid his yearly visit to town
Bone chilling temperatures dipping way down
As he's announcing his arrival in late December
This one the coldest one many can remember
People all prepare for his next three month stay
He was right on time this year for his first day
December twenty first at the stroke of midnight
Snow flakes fell like confetti in soft moonlight
Blanketing many acres of land at a steady pace
Sure that he covered every inch of the surface
With the calm, gentle wind whistling to say hello
To anybody who can hear it from down below
In the morning residents will look outside when
All know old man winter is visiting town again

Blown Away

As the sun shines down the winds are howling today
Anything that's lightweight may be blown away
The winds may push you along and knock you down
Be sure to bundle up if you are going into town
Hold onto your hats and umbrellas if you go outside
If possible please wait for the winds to subside
Don't be alarmed, the winds might get strong enough
You now possess some of the neighbor's stuff
Possibly a lawn chair or umbrella,a flower pot or two
A garbage can you know doesn't belong to you
Return them to their rightful owners if you can do so
It is one way to meet neighbors you don't know

Chasing a Dream

Running out of time as the clock keeps
ticking away
You hope you can change his mind and
make him stay
It's only been a long fight keeping it
together til now
Knowing all you've been through you ask
yourself how
Blinded by false hope praying the past
was the past
The wounds never heal while scars and
memories last
Instead of facing his demons he runs thd
other way
There's no way to stop time soon it will be
another day
You are losing him and soon he will be out
of sight
Determination is in your blood
morning,noon,and night
He is on your mind all day long and in your
dreams
Trying to break this cycle is much harder
than it seems
It is so hard to just give up,allowing him to
slip away
While the pain and determination get
stronger everyday

Our Life Stories

Our futures all full of uncertainty and wonder as well
Where one's life is headed it is impossible to tell
Every day is like a slate, one side is now wiped clean
The other has a list of tasks including a routine
When you wake up anything can be written that day
Some already decided others can go either way
The pasts we've now written are impossibe to erase
Our stories are never finished til we fill all space
