Corrine Douglass Poem
Travel with me through time and see what I see
Scars from the earth and endless tragedy
Hold my hand through these dark days and nights
And brush away my fears as I try to take flight
Please understand the different paths I have chosen
And shine your light on my soul as I remain frozen
I am so fearful but no longer want to be afraid
I am so lonely but I am not ready to be brave
I lay here in my cocoon of fear praying for more
Trying to break free and waiting for wings to soar
Colors are swirling around me, waiting for me to partake
In a life that I used to know but this cocoon I cannot shake
What led me to the darkness I will never know
But it is a battle I must fight, a nameless foe
So please look deep inside the darkness of my eyes
And help me find my wings so I may fly
