The Future

I can't figure out, I just don't know.
Why everyone wants, to be like Poe.
With riddles so deep,
thoughts so complex.
The average reader is left perplexed.
This isn't right, I really must say.
The interest in Poetry is fading away.
With critiques whining about cliches.
I wish the professors would learn how to play.

I'm not saying let's tell 'em it's gold.
That's not the idea I'm trying to mold.
Things are changing, views begin to waver.
Time's rearranging, the past meant to savor.
Dismiss my words for babble, or junk.
My mission is to give poetry spunk.
You scribes in your dungeons can chastise me.
he future is coming, this you will see.

Rubik's Cube

Life is a Rubik's cube.
Always shifting, ever changing.
I may only be a Rube,
But my world is re-arranging.

Some people cheat
By switching the stickers.
Others get beat
And turn to the liquor's.

I will struggle with my toy.
Since others perceive me as a boy.
I'll learn the pattern, find the trick,
'cause giving up would make me sick.

You can judge me, give it hell!
But you don't know me all that well.

I'm strong willed, body too.
I'll accomplish all the things
I "cannot do".
For I'm a fighter, as well as a Rube.
And I won't get beat
By some damn cube!!
