Awesome Birthday Greetings

Isn't it amazing: you're still hanging 'round?
After all these years, you're still above the ground.
That is so inspiring, it's just like a dream!
So get that scoop a-working, and let's have more ice cream!

Isn't it astounding, how we're here with you?
Your friends and relations make up quite a crew!
Anyone who sees us will do a double-take
While we crowd all around you, to have a piece of cake!

Isn't it incredible, we all wonder why
You've so many birthdays, we can't count that high!
All the years that passed...it's hard to keep the score
But who needs a number? We plan to have some more!

Propane

When our traveling's up, it's time to fire it up
Propane!
Since that sunshine has passed, it's time to light the gas
Propane!

It's all right, it burns bright, when you light
Propane!

When the camp is cold, you don't have to be told
Propane!
You must open that valve but don't go past setting twelve
Propane!

It's all right, it burns bright, when you light
Propane!

If you feel a chill, you just get close to that grill
Propane!
To get warm just rove till you're up by that stove
Propane!

It's all right, it burns bright, when you light
Propane!

They will look at you to host a barbecue
Propane!
It's just really neat, the way foods cook in that heat
Propane!

Have a bash, without ash, use that gas
Propane!

Blooming May Birthdays

Around us see May flowers, all in bloom
Let's gleefully start to shed Pandemic gloom

There's much less need to give each other lots and lots of room
Because no longer must we meet - if at all - on Zoom

Party times resuming now at stadia, beach and bars
While JPL's ingenious new 'AIRcraft' flies on Mars

While busy hands delineate panel lines and ailerons
Our minds note that May birthdays include cultural icons

Fred Astaire and Martha Graham still show us high-class dance
Mary Cassat and Katherine Hepburn represent romance
To writers, Margaret Fuller and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Inspire our own compositional toil
All wonder how far we'd go if we only really tried
To venture smart and curious, like NASA's Sally Ride

Closer to home, more immediately
This May includes two birthdays, each of 70
Unnoticed by Historians...that may be
but they're for Kenneth Murphy, and for me.
