Yesterday

Yesterday

Yesterday I forgot the shade of your eyes
I struggled to remember your touch
Today I forgot the sound of your voice
Each day I don't miss you so much
In the end you only brought me sorrow
I wonder what I won't remember tomorrow

Hidden Hearts

Hidden hearts

A tragic end
They meet as friends
With love that cannot be
You, duty bound
I dare not say
Just what you mean to me
These souls do yearn
These hearts do ache
With love no one can see
For quiet hearts
They hide away
This pain and treachery
So on lives love
In a quiet tomb
It waits with hopeful glee
To hear you say
I'm free my love
Come away with me
So till that day
I'll wait my love
On yon balcony

The Harsh Light of Day

The harsh light of day

The darkness surrounds you
It engulfs you
Paralyzed and broken, it drags you down
Deeper into its pit
Ascension, a fleeting dream
Demons surround you
Torturing your soul further into madness
Escape, there is none
Turning circles, spinning, you fall further still
Who were you
Where did you come from
No memory, black, all that's left is void
How can you get out
Who can you turn to
No one is there
You are alone
Completely alone
Falling deeper into the abyss
Retreating into your fear
You scratch at walls hoping to dig free
You bleed
you cry
you scream into silence
Nothing
Solitude, darkness penetrating, consuming
That moment comes
The wicked one is ready to bow
Proud of his victory
Pleased by your inevitable demise
And then, alas
Out of the darkness
Something piercing, blinding
Indiscernible
Hope
A beacon
A voice saying you are not alone
An end to the darkness...
Salvation
Tis the harsh light of day

Remembrance

Remembrance

I close my eyes
I see your face
I feel your gentle kiss across my lips
Your hands graze my cheek
Your warm arms hold me close
They pull me in
Longing, needing, aching again
There's something so strong
I cannot escape
The allure of your kiss,
Your passionate embrace
What is this power you have over me
How deeply I want you
How do you not see
I gaze in your eyes
Longing with love
To feel you, to keep you
I wish you could know,
I wish you could see
This one that I love
How great it could be
But alas you are gone
And my heart stands alone
And I sit and wonder
Will you ever find your way home?

The Endless Fool

The endless fool

Oh heart, you sad fool
Did you not learn
Did you so soon forget
Love, how wicked
Like a siren calling you
Come you lovesick fool
The flame, it burns you
Every time it hurts you
Why do you not see
Why do you draw near
Each scar runs deep
Each wound deeper still
Yet you oh endless fool
You let it in
You let it kill
Oh wretched heart
You are sad indeed
Love is a dagger
It only makes you bleed

The Harvest

The harvest

Alone, inside my head
Is my heart truly dead
Does it merely slumber
In a restless sleep
Hoping to be awoken
By a love yet to meet
In a room with no walls
Nowhere to hide
The solitude thrashing
To kill me inside
I want to let go
I want to not care
Just let It take over
My smile a blank stare
So tired of fighting
To save my weak soul
The loneliness winning
I've lost all control
Could someone save me
How could they know
My smile just a smokescreen
So my pain doesn't show
If they could but peer
Deep in my eyes
Perhaps they would hear
My laughs turn to sighs
Would they then stop
To care how I felt
Wrap me in love
To make my heart melt
Awaken you sad fool
That's all just a dream
Loneliness...that
Is the field you must glean
