Fools and Tools

Onward they marched
Loud and proud
For Freedom
Their hearts were bent

Freedom!
A cry of slaves
A cry so loud
That their masters trembled

Heart ready ,Blade drawn
Death they greeted
Blood served
Its guest satiated

Hands held heads
Of masters forgotten
Freedom oh sweet!
But the price yet bitter

For a day or two
Freedom was true
Until the ruse was up
And shackled anew

Fools for power
And Fools for tools
They knelt
Greed their new master

Blind to truth
Shackled to rock and paper
They squabble and shatter
Thieves elate with laughter

Of cloak and dagger
Money, the cloak
Need, the dagger
Thieves thus became master

The Land corrupted
The Cry forgotten
The People wept
Most often

At time present
The slave suffers
Ready to Cry Freedom
But when will it matter?
