You Didnt Break My Heart

You didn't break my heart, when you left the left side of my bed empty,
You didn't break my heart, when you drove your car away while I pretended to sleep.
You didn't break my heart, when I saw my closet still had some of your garbage,
You didn't break my heart, when you said you wanted to be free like I kept you in a cage.

I walked down the hall where our pictures hanged,
In the pictures, love was the same; wish your heart could feel that.
I put on my coat and made coffee for two,
It was just out of habit and that habit has to get erased too.
My poems you dislike, but remember the first day we met?
I was looking for a muse that could sing to my heart and you said you could be it.

You did break my heart, when you held my hand last night,
You did break my heart, when all your sweet whispers turned out to be lies.
You did break my heart, when you can still remember your pain,
You did break my heart, when you forgot how I chased them away.

Half of my heart is in turmoil; the other half is busy in repair,
My vision’s blinded by your image, so how could I not care?
I wish to remove you from my memory, like it never happened,
I take it all back when I said you were my favourite incident.
It’s already eight in the morning, I have to get dress and get on with today,
If you decide to come back to me now, I would't want you to stay.

A season you are, today you’re gone, tomorrow you’ll be home,
But I’m sorry to say I’m strong enough now, to make it on my own.
Go on; spread your wings and fly,
You won’t get my “I Miss You,” letters, and you won't have to fake reply.

Oh, you did break my heart! Oh, and you didn't!
What I’m trying to say you will be forgiven.
Not because I love you, I just don’t want to waste more time,
Whether you broke my heart or still trying to, I’ll be alright.

It’s a pity that we fell out, before we became gold,
I guess, now we’ll,
Now we’ll never know...
