Alicia Lambert Poem
My Darling Girl,
your big dark eyes met mine
against your pale skin and yellow hair
this name sang in my heart, Susan,
my Black-Eyed Susan.
A wild flower you’ll be, you’ll be a
kind friend,
loving wife,
strong mother,
sweet grandmother
and always you’ll be
my darling girl, my Black-Eyed Susan

Alicia Lambert Poem
I don’t like you but I love you!
Yes, those are the lyrics to that popular song.
I hate that I have come to feel that exact way about you,
but why do you;
tell me my paintings look like a child constructed them,
push my bangs to the side and tell me to grow them out,
proclaim that I am only pretty in the town we live,
refuse to meet my friends,
and say I should not have children because I am unstable?
It’s as if
you don’t like me, but you say love me.
