Poet Jmariah Poem
Alas, the hour is getting late;
dark clouds are sailing 'cross the sky.
And as I fight this sleepy state,
I hear the time go ticking by.
Thick shadows climb along my wall –
alas, the hour is getting late.
A dream stands by, while eyelids fall
against my will – the strain is great.
Now as my body pours its weight
into the plushness of my bed,
alas, the hour is getting late
when I must rest my weary head.
I beg the dream to take me now
for lo, I can no longer wait.
And as the darkness sweeps my brow,
alas, the hour is getting late.

Poet Jmariah Poem
I couldn't have known it would come to this
that love would end with the sweep of a kiss
that tears would stain the dreams we shared
that mere fantasies would have us ensnared
and parting lips would forget real bliss,
but I should have known it would come to this.
I couldn't have known how my heart would break
how my life would be spent in the breaths you'd take
that empty arms would be emptier still
as words formed promises you'd never fill
and I'd be a fool for passion's sake,
but I should have known how my heart would break.
I couldn't have known you would say goodbye
that our love would be swallowed in a lie
that my soul would ache for desires we'd known
holding fast to the memories of love you'd shown
and that all I could do was sit and cry,
but I should have known you would say goodbye.

Poet Jmariah Poem
I walk through the annals
In the caves of my mind,
As a breeze
flicks a tuft of my hair.
It smells of the memories
I've gone there to find,
Those I tenderly
stored away there.
I wander the halls
Where those memories were left,
And the breeze
whispers into my ear.
It beckons me deeper
'Mid cavern and cleft
Where it dances
the echoes I hear.
I search through the chambers
'Mid cobwebs and dust,
As my longing
incites me to do.
And I peer 'neath the layers
Of loving and lust,
Then I smile
for there, I find you.
I flip through the pages
Where months became years,
And relish
the days I replay.
Then tenderly re-file
The laughter and tears
For the next time
that I pass this way.

Poet Jmariah Poem
Against the backdrop of the night
Below the twinkling stars so bright
Clothed in a mystic haze of light,
Dreamers relive their dreaming.
Enthralled within each of their eyes
Forging crests of softened sighs
Guiding hands o'er wakening thighs,
Hollowed breaths are steaming.
Irresistibly he sips,
Joining tips to fingertips
Kissing her upon the lips,
Lovers taste each other.
Melting in their warm embrace
Night surrounds their secret place,
Only love now keeps each face
Pressed to one another.
Quiet whispers sail the air
'Round the lust-indulgent pair
Savouring each touch they share,
Tantalizing sweetly,
Until both are drawn into
Visions of what lovers do
When desire rages through,
'Xciting so completely -
Yielding themselves for passion's sake,
Zestfully satisfies the ache.

Poet Jmariah Poem
In all the world I've never known a sweeter touch than this:
the hot press of my lover’s lips and mine locked in a kiss.
Though hands may stir my panting flesh to quiver deep within,
and whispered words may lick their way across my tingling skin,
no single touch can do so much to warm me quite like this,
as when my lover freezes time and holds me in a kiss.

Poet Jmariah Poem
It was a dream and nothing more –
a love within a lie.
And kisses we were lusting for
were old and cold and dry.
Now we awaken from this sleep
and hide the smiles we wore,
and in our waking only keep
the dream
and nothing more.

Poet Jmariah Poem
A murky hue invades the breeze
while sunshine kisses grass below.
And autumn’s brush paints all the trees
where birds put on an aerial show.
Then I take out my canvas white
to recreate this splendid sight.
But my rendition can’t compare
with nature’s hand splashed everywhere.

Poet Jmariah Poem
The sun beat down one afternoon upon the cabin roof,
The musty air inside lay thick and still.
A summer breeze blew fragrances of honeysuckle rose
That wafted lazily from off the hill.
The woodland creatures roamed that day around the trees and bush,
The air made light the branches of the trees.
But stillness pained this summer time that brought a chilling touch
And deafening silence, hallowed by the breeze.
A rocking chair stood on the porch, a pipe lay to one side
Upon a tree stump cursed with blackening rot.
Collapsing steps and peeling paint and beams in ill-repair
Had marked this woodland home that time forgot.
And there within the belly of this dark and lonely hut,
Amid the dust from summers gone before,
Engulfed in foul-smelling air, the shriveled mound of flesh
Of Hermit Joe lay rotting on the floor.
The sun beat down that afternoon upon his lonely grave,
O'er which no sorrowing eyes had bowed and cried.
It gently heated up the dust and age-old rotting flesh
That housed and fed the worms that bred inside.

Poet Jmariah Poem
Heart, don't fall in love with love this time;
Learn each graceful step within its dance,
Hearken to the rhythm that in thine
Ear doth beat its message of romance,
But think not that these pleasant moves be more
Than untapped passion gliding on the floor.
Heart, don't fall in love with love this time;
Trust no leap that lands thee in despair;
Seek beyond the bliss and take the climb
Above the peek of passion, if ye dare,
But let sound footing keep thee most of all
Steadfast on the ledges, lest ye fall.
Heart, don't hurt for love of love this time;
Wield thy passion's wild intensity,
Forge a tune or craft an artful rhyme
Within the kiln of life, if this needs be,
But do not burn thyself for burning's sake
While to thyself no worthy lover take.
