Silver Linings Playbook

Kian's Silver lining playbook

I thought it naturally
Celestial greetings
From birds chirping
Sweet smelling you
greeted by smiling happy you
I can't help but feel like love cheated both of us
Not every story has a heroin who
saves the day
Some stories are devoid of a happy ending
I'm trying to find my silver lining

At first I cried myself to sleep
Playing the what if game
That's one you can't win
Can't look back
Gotta learn to forgive
I was willing to sacrifice my happiness
In order to give give give
Can't squeeze blood from a turnip
I kept waiting for a breakthrough
But one never turned up

So a year has past
no sign of you
Time is moving fast
perhaps in a vacuum
I have sucked away your scent
No more perfume
I have yet to cast
away all those demons
Perhaps the voices in your head
talk to me too.
I hope I meet someone who
makes me just as crazy
in love too!
To me that would be winning
It would be my silver lining

Water

Water- Lauryn hill unplugged( Kian breakfast in bed)

I shouldn't spend so much time
in the forlorn
Saddened by the mistakes that haunt me
The past for which I can not change is gone for good
Rinsed down the drain.
And that's a good thing
A filtration system meant to recycle in
the fresh experiences and insights that will
quench my thirst.
I wasn't the last and I wont be the first.

Love is alot like water, or a running spring, or maybe a well
Time will tell if this levy will break again, if my heart bursts open it could become a tsunami, the epic disaster would be immeasurable the carnage that devastates all who crosses the path.
The pain is palpable, disease is incurable, the number of affected people is a toll that is non billable. You do the math.

The water I speak of can be stream in a meadow,, It can be redirected as she could be swimming up stream with a different fellow. My heart is yellowed, afraid of this angry sea, Mighty storm torrential rain before me. Never mind that I can't swim, can't save you if I tried, besides who can swim and cry?
I've drowned in my failures drifting along until I found this life line
Now it's a combination of destiny, and time.
Will I beach at a paradise or beaten by the rocks while floating down stream. Sublime.

The water is a force, the beach beckons, can't have earth sans water. Can't have food, can't have rain, can't have showers, baths, soak pain away, rinse away, drink to cure, can be serene and pure. Visceral, celestial, natural, perennial, preferential, moving about my earth directing my new flow. Cleansing me letting it all go taken away lost in your ocean living off the idea that inside me will one day again grow.

Look Up In the Sky

Look up in the sky

Look I know we got off on the wrong foot,
But charge it to my head not my heart
I thought I saw an opportunity
So like cupid with his bow drawn, I shoot
With much apology and I do respect your
whole Ora.
You have much more to your diaspora
I read some strong kinetic vibes
Like when we were back in Kemet
See I know a Queen when I see one
I just want to spoil you
With other worldly lavish trinkets
I've got designs on loving you forever
So a man thinketh
So I'm here in my purpose
All we have is from this moment on
It's you who I chose
to build this destiny
See time keeps rolling on
I melt the ice
Quiet the storms
Sculpted mountains
Love was created for beings like you and I
Need proof, I give you the twilight sky
Those Stars visible or not
are up there, while you counting them
they counting on us
to join them and love on high
Infinite miles away people are hanging on our every word
A shooting star is a symbol of love deferred
Don't let down the galaxy
Look up in the sky and look up at our destiny
Once they fall they fall fast
Don't let this moment pass
Grab hold of my hand
and alas
we will make it to dance on the sun
And if we are not careful
another set of should be lovers
will be staring at the twilight sky at
what we have become.....

If We Were Both In Paris

If we were both in Paris
We on different time zones
Always coming and goin
I’m on this lonely balcony
Cigar smoke blowin
I’m as lonely as Gatsby
Cloaked in white with blue
All the way down to my sox
Looking at the time on the clock
It’s awful lonely when does your ship dock
When does your flight land
When does your car port
Get out the flutes, Pop the cork
Roll out the red carpet,
Your outfit crème and sorbet
Deliciously clad in a dessert shade of sherbet
Make up perfect

You glided in floating
Amongst the stars
And I’m gloating
You finer than a miracle
You celestial, angel
Hot air balloon delivering
A cold piece descending
My face says it all no pretending
That’s when I awaken
From this dream
So real it all seems
The neighbors heard me scream
I miss you terribly
I’m just too embarrassed
This wouldn’t happen if we were both in Paris

I just had to ask
Didn’t want to come off crass
I think fast, on my feet and I outclass
The best of them and the rest of them
we give shade as we pass
I come baring gifts, not to harass
A one way trip outta here
Imagine if we were both in Paris
Staring at the Eiffel, surrounded by fine
Art, and fancy cuisine, can’t you feel the love in the air
Let’s get into a little espionage
Pull back the shades sleep in
It almost feels like a mirage
Love is my alibi
Passion is my disguise
If I’m captured head quarters will disavow any knowledge of my mission
Will you come to find me enlisting the foreign legion?
If there was any doubt whose kiss is sweeter
Sweeping me off my feet with a daring rescue
I found a keeper!
Together atop this most romantic of city views
from the highest peeks on top this terrace.
This fairytale could truly happen if we were both in Paris.

Broken

Broken- Reprint Luther's I who have nothing!

I who is broken
I who have spoken too soon
As I now have noone
It's now a year in June
I have been lost deserted
A drift in a sea of my own emotions
I'm intermittently frenzied to frozen
Numb to the reality of my shattered heart
This was a clean break,No soft tissue fracture
Who will help me pick up the pieces
That is going to be the hardest part

I who've been knowing
I who can't tell if he's coming or going
They look at you with sorrow in their eyes
More like that poor poor man
They can see the sadness inside
They can read as my pen just cries
I couldn't pretend anymore
No amount of sedative can conceal these lies
Now that the world knows, and can have a good laugh at me
I lay broken on this tiny apartment floor, disgusted at what I see

I without a home
I have a roomate but he lives alone
I'm conspicuous to the eyes as her absence is my alibi
I who have regretfully
I who contextually- have replayed our final hours in the
Can't go back time machine that haunts me in my mind
This kind of torture is what blurries the line
Between the living and the dead
This is too much pain and suffering for mankind

I who if I saw you tomorrow
Would have so much to say
I who wondered what I could have done
to make you stay
I who on my knees do pray
for your successful recovery
Run from all your demons and if any of them are me
Or your ability to love completely
Heal your mind free your body
I hope this time away gives you the perspective
Peace and serenity.
I have nothing more but my deepest apology
I lay broken in my own apathy.

French Silk Pie

French Silk Pie!

Heaven must be missing Angels
Oceans must be missing mermaids
Miracles must have grown feet
Prayers answered, you are their manifestation
Such sophistication
Cake frosting smooth rich creamy butter tastin- skin
So soft to touch. I could get lost in the feel
If this is a dream you are seeming way too real
I'm in a diabetic coma you make my blood sugar go low to high
I'm fending for a slice of your french silk pie!

Your skin feels like pudding
Not too many places I wouldn't
I remember when I couldn't
If we were two lines laying next to each
couldn't be more congruent
Do you parle voux francais ?
I asked what she say?
She looked at me from behind her eye
Meaning she sees me and understands my why
We kiss and my truth can't lie
My kiss is power, it's fireworks in the sky
It's a delectable treat, her french silk pie

Every Movie Ever Made

Every Movie ever Made (Hopeful)

The Summer I fell in love with you
Was like a video montage of every movie ever made
part comedy, oh What fun the laughs!
the good times, some of the happiest times I've had
The good food. what love taste like!
The drinking being intoxicated
I was making plans on you being my wife
This Romance was compelling!
Everything written in the stars for me
How far this thing could go No tellin?
The dancing, I pray the music never stops!
The love making, until they call the cops!

we saved each other and I could have been knocked over by a feather.
I was just thinking that I wouldn't ever find love again
Just goes to show never say never!
I could be bought for a penny
If I told you this kind of fairy tale did exist
I'm an optimist
I am a realist
She is a ventriloquist
When she put her hands on me
She put words in my heart.
The lord put us in each others path
Now it's up to us to play our part
Now you do the math,
Let's come into each others world and add!
Let's loose ourselves of baggage
Live out the rest of our lives
Try to salvage,
Together we made a decision to purge; and I do mean all!
We joined hands, took a deep breath although it's summer
we began to Fall!!!!

When the credits run and we make a curtain call, hopefully we look at what this cost, vs the price we paid?
We found love, we will always have history and our very own love story a montage of every movie ever made!

I Would If I

I would if.... KAF

I would if I could roll back the years
I would simply hold back the tears
I would pin back the ears
I would clip away the thorns
With my shears

It was just a blur
I blinked and you weren't there
Frightened standing in the dark
You could smell it in the air
we were supposed to trip the line fantastic
I was gonna be like Fred Astair

what happened was a comedy of errors, poor judgement
and an opportunity taken advantage of.
It's what happens when she stopped caring and pretending she's in love.

I'm in my lonely place banging away at my computer keys.
one year and a day from where she left me.
Am I worse for the wear, most noticeably.
Am I carrying on as if love will one day abound right here beside me. Most definitely.

I would if I could roll back the years
I would simply hold back the tears
I would pin back the ears
I would clip away the thorns
With my shears

Surely

Surely, surely,surely
No I guess I won't be getting
Any children named after me
To grow up,I'm glad I waited.
Surely....
Divorce is hard, but I have comfort
Divorce is hard but I have comfort

Surely you just, you can't be serious.
Seriously, your cerebral cortex must be deficient
Curious with the dearth of quality
Male prospects good luck finding a man this decent.
I admit luck with women non existent.
I made my peace for my mistakes
For those I repent
Im happy to seek a soul mate who
will understand me and no what I meant.
One whom fuels me up and refuels me after all my energy is spent.
In one regard I'm at a loss,
A drift in a solitude like no other
Licking my wounds, taking inventory- one lost lover.
Painstakingly in rebuilding mode
Is this a manifestation of bad karma, reeping what I sowed.
Today I breathe a sigh of relief
I become relieved that I can escape with my life, nothing owed.
No children were harmed in the departure.
It just wasn't my time yet to be a father.
Repeat.... I guess you won't be naming no children after me....

Moment of Truth

Moment of truth (let's keep steppin)

Can't expect you to understand
You playing with house money
What started out as a silly bet
Is really not all that funny.
I've been in love with you since day one
I know I haven't been on your radar
There's never been anyone
To captivate me,stimulate me
So here's what's gonna happen
I'm gonna grab your hand and
we are gonna dance
You will come with me
as we go sliding into paradise
Since I first laid eyes
This is where I want to be
Can't you hear the music
Do you see me?
Feel me?

Loving you is what I was born to do?
What else would you have me do?
How else could or would I explain?
Why else would we be dodging the rain?
Out here on the edge of forever
What changed?
What changed is I finally got up the nerve
You got your nerve- now I sure do
And I'm here to tell you
We have arrived at the moment of truth!

I don't want this to pass me by
Hell it's worth the try
Maybe she will take a chance on this cool guy
I know he never spoke up before
I've fought the feeling waged war
I defeated my better judgement and decided to put myself all the way out here.
My heart is on my sleeve out side of my chest apart of my wears.
Exposed for the world to see.
I'm here to yell it to the mountain tops
Hey look at me?
Either I am really gonna step in it?
Or you gon grab my hand and we gonna continue steppin
It's you and me right here right now!
That's all I'm reppin
we are at the point of no return tell me you are all in?

Loving you is what I was born to do?
What else would you have me do?
How else could or would I explain?
Why else would we be dodging the rain?
Out here on the edge of forever
What changed?
What changed is I finally got up the nerve
You got your nerve- now I sure do
And I'm here to tell you
We have arrived at the moment of truth!

Before any doubt sets in?
Give me the answer
for which I been waitin
The breath in my lungs on suspend
As I am on baited breath
Give me my wings
Let's keep steppin into heaven!

Book: Shattered Sighs
