Remember My Name

You can walk on me, spit in my face, and put me down
And I still won't frown
I'm an intelligent african-american queen
I don't have time for people
Who waste their time disrespecting me
Because I know who I am and I know where I'm going
Not scared to look back
And I'm always looking foward
I refuse to be an overnight celebrity or a one-hit-wonder
I'ma have an impact on the world
LIke the sound of thunder
You may think you're killing me softly
But your words don't affect me
I try not to notice you
Because you're not on the same level as me
Losing loved ones may hurt
And you may have a struggle getiing through it
But it's those struggles that make you stronger
It's those struggles that make you a better person
It's those struggles that made me who I am today
Those struggles allows my voice to be heard
It allows me to stand up for what I believe in
For what I think is right for what I think is wrong
So remember my name
You may not hear it on the radio
And you may not see it on t.v.
But remmeber it because
It might be you looking up to me

Life

Why is that us as black people
Can't live peacefully in the city of brotherly love
Why do we think it's cool for us to rap about
the burners and the gats
Instead of realizing what's happening amongst us blacks
Why is it that we're told to live life to the fullest
But in reality we can't
In reality we can't handle life
We can't handle the
Joys and sorrows that come with living
We can't handle the fact that
The people we love the most aren't going to be here forever
We can't handle the fact that the good really do die young
To young if you ask me
But I will tell you this one thing
We have a responsiblity
To live this thing called life
As if the people we love the most
Were right here with us
And then maybe we can learn to understand
This simple thing known to us as
Life

Scared

LIke a baby taking it's first step
I'm afraid of to open up because I'm afraid of getting hurt
Is it my fault for being protecetive of my feelings
Or should I just open up to everyone
And allow my heart to take the pain and abuse
For loving someone who doesn't care much about me
Maybe it's me
Maybe I don't know how to love
Maybe I'm just scared
Who knows
But I do know
I'm not scared to find that person
Who's willing to teach me how to love
And then maybe I won't be scared to love them back

India

More than a friend
More like a sister
Even though you're not here anymore
I still hear your voice through the wind
It whispers beautiful, profound things
I appreciate it and take it with me
Knowing that one day
We'll speak again
Face to face
