Imposter Syndrome

We see ourselves unimpeded initially

Some are stricken with a view artificially

We are told by others very specifically

There is a ceiling so proceed timidly

We try in vain with no support futilely

As we age blazing the path dizzily

Sometimes we see the results dismally

Eventually we learn to climb skillfully

We began to achieve sufficiently

Eventually finding success brilliantly

Living life with dreams so vividly

Sadly, a haunting voice still speaks flippantly

Reminding us of the ceiling frigidly

We remain in the arena mistily

Each overcautious step taken judicially

We endure the voice shouting viciously

The battle to continue is done willfully

Blissful

A gaze guided by the tender currents of your heart
You have always seen the world as complex folk art

Rose-colored glasses are not necessarily a bad thing
Tinges of amber hues reveal what your future will bring

Eyes incredibly deep warm pools of sugary brown
Incandescent reflections below a mesmerizing crown

Sweet secrets softly whispered into the gentle breeze
Welcomed exploration for a soul to zealously appease

Symphonies of serenity where sighs find tranquil release
Your gracious existence majestically compels inner peace

Something Borrowed

Tick-tock ya can’t rewind
Time doesn’t stop or fall behind
Clock hands cut like a sharpened knife
Time doesn’t lose it runs your life

Born with a cry blink then you're grown
Chasing years you’ll never own
Gold turns gray fast and sly
Can’t outpace it don’t even try

Heroes fall and empires bend
Every story meets its end
Watches shine but they betray
Marking life that slips away

No bribes deals or cheat codes work
Time doesn’t flinch and it won’t shirk
Kings and beggars rich or broke
We all breathe time like secondhand smoke

Tick-tock ya can’t rewind
Time doesn’t stop or fall behind
Clock hands cut like a sharpened knife
Time doesn’t lose don’t let it steal your life

AM PM

6am, I'm still not sleeping
Trippin in my mind
Can hear my thoughts grind
Wondering how high the problems will mount
Time keeps goin by, it's the hours I count

10am, still awake
my mind I can't make
these thoughts I can't shake
Till I make a decision
On what to do,
If u only knew

Goin into the night again and I'm still not sleeping
Yall don't know the real meaning of am/pm

Dream Walk

Stroll along a sandy beach under pale moon light
Reflection’s complexities washing over the shore
These rare moments should be cherished and adored
Foot prints constantly erased and rewritten in the sand
Only passing through and temporarily etched in the land
Before the next wonderful series of events takes place
Sun on the horizon begins to dance off the mountain's base
Forgotten is the night, but never lost is the beautiful flight
Anxiously journey into the decadency of imagination’s light
Closed eyes with a smile while warmly embracing the vision
The moment forever belongs to you to take in and envision

No Regrets

I have no regrets, not a mistake made
Beautiful sands just slipped too fast
Through our hourglass smoothly
Time was not bestowed upon us
Not at this junction of our lives

Waves shall erase the footprints
The memories will remain etched
Hope intact that our paths will cross
Towards, through and beyond destiny
Eternal love for the one who bettered my life

No Truth, Importance Or Love

The truth spoken but not adhered to
Ignored to pursue things just for you

Importance left behind in the dust
Seed left to raise due to lust

Nothing learned from a repeated sequel
Love from your kids, there’s nothing equal

Love is tricky but can be viewed like this
Impossible without liking or interest

Memory Loss

Fold and make origami
Pieces lost in the folds of time
Ripples in crystal waters of stillness
A riddle searching for responsiveness

Zipline through the playgrounds of my mind
Inverted skies stretch beyond grey
Clinging to air thick with silence
Shaped by a hope refusing to conform

Sleepily sauntering down an alley
Directionless shadows endless in their growth
Opaque walls murmuring their speechless weight
Flickering with thoughts not comprehended

Unraveling the knots of oblivion
Words hang precariously in suspense
A burst of color breaks through the frame
Slowly fading to the edge of a forgotten dream

For The Lady I Never Knew

I shed tears today for a lady I never knew
For so long my emotions faced exemption
My life, created in lieu of a tragic encounter, grew
At last my understanding salvaged some redemption

Perceptions and thoughts of the unknown accumulated
Visions of youth, sorrow, love, loyalty, and despair
Through the eyes of destiny we communicated
Briefly revealing how much you loved and deeply cared

Your concern for other’s lives gave way to mine
For a moment I felt your warmth and saw your light shine
A unique memory of you shall forever be kept
Of the day, upon your resting place, in silence, I wept

Here and Now

The time is here and now
To right the wrongs
Show them how

They are here to stay
Embrace your life
Make decisions today

Tomorrow comes fast
Regret is an ugly thing
You had control of past

The time is here and now
With your inconsistencies
Family life takes the bow
