Chukwuemeka Mbah Poem
PROMISING YOUNG MAN
Hear the travails of a single mother
Traded her heaven for love
But hopes and dreams short-lived and ran
Now she cries aloud to every woman
Be ware of a promising young man
He promised to move me mountains
He vowed to spring forth like fountains
At my faintest whisper when in need
And called on cupid to strike him stupid
If he is short of a word or letter in his creed
He stands and mopes as though lost in lust
It is vanity to yearn and lust over dust
He calls my left keg wonderful
And the right he christened as powerful
Both together he called beautiful
He said the sun rises in my glittering eyes
That heaven is hid between my very thighs
And will persevere till he finally makes it to heaven
He spoke sweet sounding sermons as time ticked eleven
Words like fetters, held hostage a lass due home for seven
He said my presence did make him shiver
And for my absence, he’ll cry me a river
If only I would be his all in one miss
He’ll treat me to a night of ceaseless kiss
And our ever after will be made of an endless bliss
Little did I know that the name I bore was a loan
Soon I’ll be striped of the same and left to moan alone
From my heaven he’s got saints numbering up to seven
Deserted in this lonely cold night as time ticked eleven
He’s abandoned me and all the saints in search for a new heaven

Chukwuemeka Mbah Poem
You are one of the reasons
Why they inflate their quote
If you had seized the seasons
Good men could have had your vote
You are one of the reasons
Why our sweet land has gone sour in waste
Here is one of your multiple treasons
You aid corruption just to suit your taste
You are one of the reasons we wedge weighty wrath
Bombs daily detonate like fickle fireworks far north
You decided to do nothing but shut your mouth
So they took our weary sail south
You are one of the reasons the land is inflicted with rape
Overflowing in abundance yet you mong like a greedy ape
Alas our land is grey and old but not due
And it hurts me to know that I am also you.

Chukwuemeka Mbah Poem
Now to the world of the amphibians
In search of my dear web foot friend
A native of all lands with countless fans
Croaks in tears and nears his dead end
Now to the fresh water and pond
In search of my web foot friend amidst the fog
To the rescue i come like the legendary bond
to save my web foot friend the frog

Chukwuemeka Mbah Poem
IBO MEN
Ever seen a nation:
of men who added extra to their ordinary
of men who became super in the natural
of men who inserted meta to the physical
of men who brought in 'IM' to mortality
men who in search for a fair nut
prospered even in the far north
and cheered others to fear not
men who arose when many were called and few chosen
burning with passion when many were cold and few frozen
men while colleagues where in sitted were out standing
and have vowed never to sit in but stand out
men who through faith change and recreate fate
men who defy deities to kiss destiny
took terestial trade from global to celestial
men who now trade words with gods
Ndi Igbo
rooted in Nigeria and prospering in diaspora
if only Oha Na Eze could be ONE
then IBOs will forever be Indivisible Brothers Occupying stately

Chukwuemeka Mbah Poem
I'm often repeated and hardly defeated
Could be good, bad or ugly
it all depends on what you make of me
I run a full course when fully encrypted
I am Habit
I can make you soar sky high
As well as fuel your eyes to cry
Can lead you to great profit
or lay you down underneath
Its still me Habit
A friend to both the achiever and mediocre
The very small stream that makes a river
What's your flavour? I make and mar
Can keep you redundant or take you far
Call me Habit
Be firm with me and you'll achieve a great feat
Be easy with me and you'll be wasted six feet

Chukwuemeka Mbah Poem
Love
If you were a work of fiction
I’ll call you Cupid
If you were to be a sign
I’ll cross my arms
If you were to be my date
I’ll call you February the Fourteenth
Love
Both verb and noun
As to numbers you are four
To colours you are red
To shapes you are a heart
To toys you are a teddy
To insects you are a butterfly
To destitute you are Charity
As to specie you are Agape
Yet still-
I wonder and ponder
On who and what you are.
Love
Passion girded with action
Cars call you Ferrari
Cities call you Paris
Plants call you Rose
Fools call you sex
Humans call you Christ
Scriptures call you God
Love
You were valentine to saints
You were Theresa to Nuns
The Mandela of Politicians
Many times used
Many times abused
A Terrestrial word
With Celestial origin
You make Legends- those who live and lead a life of love

Chukwuemeka Mbah Poem
On earth on a Mission
purpose redefined with singleness of vision
clarity came cause i sat to look
through the pages of the book
Some days skipped with nothing to dine
some nights slept with nothing to wine
yet more nourished than a royal cook
for i am best fed from the pages of the book
When I lost focus and fell
drowning in the depths of the well
yet I was lifted by an unseen hook
as i flipped through the pages of the book
What about you my dear friend
when the terrestrial race comes to an end
and death vomits all that it ever took
will your name be found on the pages of the book

Chukwuemeka Mbah Poem
FALSE CAUSE
Elite few for their political reasons & scheming
in deception drew many feeble fellows with a tint of religious emotion
Men who do evil in the name of good and serve the devil in the name of God
Wonder why we would worship deities if we have to protect them and defend their cause
and their feeble faithfuls faithfully fan a false cause
Boko Haram
Biko Hara'm
You claimed to be anti western education
But you are pro western technology & ammunition
fruits of a failed marriage, the abomination of amalgamation
Men of customized violence & signature blood shed
Lo you've turned a green land red
survivors who once bled are now dead
Boko Haram
Biko Hara'm
You claimed your problem was the government
But you bombed the unarmed and innocent
I know of a place you'll never raze or dent
Too many Mosquitoes standing untouched and fat
Yet you set ablaze a moving Church rat
Which heavens do you connect from your mat
Boko Haram
Biko Hara'm
Some Say you are fanatical and political
Others say your cause is unrealistic, cannibalistic & tribalistic
Whatever the case, I loathe your bloody passion & fashion
You smoked to ashes mother and child
and returned untimely to dust a groom and his bride
Yet some keep mum, others speak in tongues tender and mild
Boko Haram
Biko Hara'm
You double the woes of the Niger-area
and in your folly, threw stones at the market square
You've lost some of your own and soon to be deserted alone
Imagine the opportunities lost at a senseless cost
In my mother-tongue, I bid you to end this wrong
Boko Haram
Biko Hara'm
I have had this burden borne like a laden camel
it is true our beliefs differ in Isaac and Ishmael
Yet i entreat you in the name of our father Abraham
Let folks flock in your pastures without fear of harm
For infected with dirge is my song that is sung
True we do not share a common tongue
But its crystal clear we share a common skin
The victims of your transferred aggression ask,'What is our sin?'
are we the government or the western education so forbidden?
Sheath your explosive swords and let words detonate from your mouth
Remember the support and base of every North is a supplying South
Boko Haram
Biko Hara'm

Chukwuemeka Mbah Poem
Not too far from here
Lies the dream terrace I hear
The haven of bliss and solace
A glamorous gem of a place
The end of a weary quest
The trophy in fiery contest
Not too far from here
Sits the crown we lived to dare
Purple pride of an intellectual struggle
The green goal of a ceaseless hustle
A place we once asked where
Still seem so far yet so near.
Not too far from here
Stand the Mentors we hold dear
Men who were not shy to believe
Men who fought fear to achieve
The exclusive pass to the hall of fame
for those whose brand is in their name
Your there may differ from mine
I run my route and you run thine
But run we must run and not turn
We sacrifice pleasure and shun fun
Because, not too very far from here
Is a place called there.
Dare to get there.

Chukwuemeka Mbah Poem
it's best done later and not now
tomorrow will be perfect i can vow
Why yoke yourself like a laden cow?
The cloud is heavy and ready to snow
Be merry with life and take it real slow
And in observing the cloud u didn't sow
Alas the seed dies with its great potential
buried with a would have been credential
The plan became an aborted mission
Because procrastination stole the vision
