Inside the Madness

Cerberus plants his daggered paws
Bars the soul from following the mind
Sends forth demons to dance in the heart
Redemption lost on the ears of the blind

Cowering in the shadow of mirrored fear
Sound waves crash on nerves of glass
Vulcan’s forge feeds on days gone by
A gray-scale world now buried in ash

When Even God Stops Listening

How can I explain
Who would ever understand
The firestorm raging in my brain
The floodgates have been opened
So much desert to cover
The barren years of sorrow
Lone salvation clad in armor
No life if there is no tomorrow

Disconnected

Hope lies bleeding down a well
    broken and afraid
Screams rebounding off the walls
Help stands distant on a hill
    silent and restrained
Dreams recurring of the falls

Budding Promise

Dreams unshackled by sleep
A shooting star by campfire light
Miles unhindered by a voice
A lakeside stroll in day’s last light

Music shared within two hearts
A dance alone but never lonely
Laughter washes over sorrows
A love not lost as mine and only

Solitude

Down in the hollow a lone owl cries
A star burns up across the skies
Crackling fire the only sound
No other soul for miles around
As planets escort full moon light
across its passage through the night
No winter’s chill in fire’s glow
One heart alone itself to know

Unenlightened One

Wherein do dreams lie in your philosophy?
In the realm of a deluded mind?
In the chasing of mere fantasy?

Wherein does love go in your own mastery?
In surrender only to the world?
In check to give to one completely?

Wherein do hopes lead to sorrows only?
In a promise that clings to its vision?
In a heart that wants but joyous unity?

Temptation

The little white bottles, they whisper

Growing ever louder in the darkness

        I can stop the hurt
I can make it go away

You won’t feel a thing anymore, they say

We can transform the rains into rainbows

        All artists are mad
	alone and misunderstood

Fearless Into Tomorrow

No path exists that has an end
Nor soul can bar the way
No horizon with a lonely heart
at end of every day

No course unfolds without a friend
Nor hand to go unheld
No world could be that tears apart
a vision so compelled

No never land
No never more
A chain of cherished nows

No turning back
No fears embraced
All hope not placed in vows

No dream escapes when chased by two
Nor can it come up short
No afterward can it create
when two beliefs consort

No time will come when all is thru
Nor one to stand alone
No reason any need to wait
for lives to live as one

Lost To Hope

I once had a dream.
But living in its shadow
became all I knew.

Then I saw it again.
More glorious than I remembered.
More precarious than I realized.

When I reached for it, it toppled.
Crushed beneath, I no longer see
the dream, the shadow, me.
