Listen

listen here...i breathe again
listen here, my only friend
listen to the words i speak
even if they make you weak

life has come too far it seems
to break apart your precious dreams
and though you lie down wide awake
a single breath is all it takes

though deep and long returns the sigh
youre the apple of my eye
though i may be far away
kiss my lips..youll be okay.

this life is straining all of us
and listen now...it is a must
i love you more than anything
so rest youre head and dream the dreams

of when i wasnt always gone
and all you had were letters from
a soul-dier with poetic words
to give to you so theyll be heard

Life Is Such Sweet Sarcasm

breaks from a simple high school life
in a tranquil school
that isnt filled with gangs
where i can go home
and there is plenty of money
and my mom is sitting on the couch
because she has everything we need
because we arent behind on the bills
and my brothers rest peacefully
because no one bullies them
and my grades are the best
and i can get a job anytime
to help my careless family

just in case, just in case.

Im Just Gonna Snap Okay Get Over It

i dont care who you are
or what you think of me
build me up and break me down
then take your "stuff"* and flee

i hate you
you know it too
so bring it to my plate
take a point and hold my ground
to not spew all my hate

you were so nice in the beginning
well, what the "heck"* are you now?
gone, love, thats what you are
a filthy ugly cow

i am still the nice guy
lord, you have said so much worse
and still im here, i still get by
a blessing, not a curse.

i didnt snap hard enough to say what i meant

I Was a Warrior

glorious and tall i stood...
you could lie and say i was king
and still tell the truth
i defeated Attila the Hun
and outwitted Alexander the great
upstaged Julius Caesar.
i crawled through the dunes of Arabia
and splattered them with bandit blood
i took the lives of many
that my people may be safe another day
i fought bravely for my country
and now, Valhalla awaits.

*i know the history is incorrect, but its figurative.

The Bounty Hunter At Large

i wandered through the plains
with my pony by my side
and we both would die of thirst
we wouldnt make it through the night

cuz the posse lay upon our heels
they strike with bayonets
hurting blisters theyve bestowed
upon my heels i cant forget

with the sun upon my head
and a six gun on my side
i wish that i could tell you
that my horse could bear the ride

she collapsed right in the field
i had to leave her body there
trusted friend though she was
i couldnt carry her i swear

so i found a shallow river
and i drank to fill my blood
how i wish that tender horse
could taste the sweetness from above

still i wander with my blisters
and my six gun by my side
still a wounded bounty hunter
with no gentle horse to ride

My Attempt At a Vignette

in a way i am lonely...stuck even to the wall like a fly surrounded by the swatters that intend to kill me...
why did you let them hurt me?
you had the knife
you just watched as they beat me into a barely living lump of blackened flesh
why did you let them? after all the times i saved you
                you stood back and watched.

Indian Name

red wolf it was
patowatome-soix
this is what it means to me
what does it mean to you?
to me it means the love of life
and blood that keeps me here
also means to never back down
and never cower in faer

My Interjection

cross it
my heart with my fist
to a country spirit long forgotten
wrapped around the wrist
of some infidel
American scum
but the truth of the matter is
they wanna go home
troops that come home
to shoes thrown at their face
its like a long spent nightmare
but real life is all they see
baby killer my bottom
taking orders has its flaws
they do what their told
not what they want
so dont blame ameri-troops
cuz it really isnt them

Little Feet

they run around the house
yet they do not utter a whisper...
they pit pat down the street with sweet grass on their mind
and never once complain of the hot concrete
they step on nails and tacks and thorns
yet never speak of the cuts and bruises
they come in all shapes
all sizes
and they all long for the soft sweet grass
that lay just around the bend
and the grass makes it all worth it

Battlecry

i will stand above the industry
hold, surpass all infantry
ride into my battles
on a chariot of gold

rising to the gilded plain
racing through the pouring rain
holing up my mother's flag
a country lost and cold

pausing not to catch my breath
give me liberty or give me death
take me to the motherland-
my story must be told!
