Change

Each time I have a happy thought I'll put a penny in a jar,
hoping they'll save up to one day buy a fancy car.
Each time inside I'm filled with joy in will a nickel go,
to someday pay my travels to someplace where it snows.
Each time I add a dime it’s ‘cause good feelings that I get,
hoping it will help with my children not born yet.
Each time I add a quarter my smile has been passed to you,
this is sure to pay for tough times I will go through.
Each time I'm feeling pain or sorrow I'll add a dollar to be fair,
hopefully in the end there won’t be much cash in there.
Now the game is over, time to ensure my hopes and dreams,
I open the lid and to my despair, all I see is green.
Until I get some change I’ll just live off these dollar bills,
because obviously nothing else is keeping my jar filled.

Mary Jane

You inhale the savior smoke as it runs through your veins and calms your soul.
There's no second thought about taking a hit. You watch as it burns like coal.
You depend on the feeling for a brief escape but when it fades nothing's changed.
Some days are better than others. I guess because your level of highness can
range.
No matter the cost or sacrifice it's your body, your motion, your choice.
You enjoy floating above the earth. Peaceful bliss, until you hear my silent voice.
I want you to know that it runs through me too, painfully piercing every vein.
It's course it must do, there's no other way. I look at you in vain.
Your pleasure is killing me inside and out. It gets harder each repeated time.
I'm not actually trying to change or control you, I just want you to be mine.
Right now you belong to Mary Jane and I just don't measure up.
I'll just let you have your way with her, I won't interrupt.
Although it hurts I continue to inquire, "Have you seen Mary Jane today?"
I'd like to request one day without her, please, if i may.
Hopefully soon it will all be over so both our pains can fade.
Until that time...

Such Time Lost

Such time lost in my thoughts too long thought to be voiced.
Such time lost in my voice that could have brought me joy.
Such time lost in that joy that was overrun by tears.
Such time lost in long cries heard only by my ears.
Such time lost in my ears that only wanted a kind word.
Such time lost in those words. Never spoken. Never heard.

Quietly Disturbed

Quietly disturbed am I, no one knows because I hide.
Underneath my happy face, my mask, so no one is disgraced.
Quietly disturbed is she, there is no real reason to be.
Maybe that’s why she’s so confused, she was not the one hurt or abused.
Quietly disturbed are you, there is nothing you can do.
You try but every time you fail, just sulk along your saddened trail.
Quietly disturbed this girl, trying to live in her own little world.
Making peace with her own things, for what simple happiness it brings.
Quietly disturbed am me, I often question me sanity.
It’s not that bad get over it, in this world me doesn’t fit.
Quietly disturbed am I, no one sees how often I cry.
Underneath my happy face, I wish I wasn’t in this hateful place.

Confusion of a Self

Confusion of a self
It feels better just to lie
Instead of searching through the past
For answers that have died
Confusion of a self
A denial of your truth
You know everything that’s happened
Your loneliness is proof
Confusion of a self
An inside hoard of pain
With overwhelming emptiness
Sadness through your veins
Confusion of a self
There’s no changing it now
You have to let it go
It doesn’t matter how
