Men of the Sea

No more was there a surprise in him looking to the horizon
to see the next challenge to face
tries to keep her from harm, just to hold in his arm
but he knows there's no hiding place

Cause in a captains eye's, she'll win him first prize
seems silly to get in the way
He knows what bait to use, he knows what sail to choose
to get her in close to slay

But still he tries and protects till it's him she rejects
and she'll go off alone just to see
and lying in wait, is a sad lonely fate
but a meal for the men of the sea

the sailors laugh and they jest, as they tear at her flesh
and they brag to each other how easy,
in the depths of the abyss, lies a heart chained to one kiss
with no chance of seeing releasing

To him she was the air, couldn't breath without her there
the reason he could exist
worn down now and older, realized that his shoulder
was the thing about him she missed..
