While You Sleep

While you sleep I tell you all of the things I keep inside throughout day.
Now that you can hear but not listen I find them much easier to say.
My hopes, my dreams, my fears, and everything in between
Your subconscious hears so keen, or so it seems.
My tongue is soft; I speak so sweetly
Knowing your reaction will never greet me.

Tonight will be different in what I want you to know.
It has everything to do with what I can’t help but show.
I hold no claim to any religion but you’ve given me a place for my faith.
Somewhere it will never stale or lose its lavish taste.
You’ve shown me something I can see, touch, and feel,
And so before it I choose to kneel.

I know I don’t say it but I miss you every day.
Sitting, thinking of the perfect words to be my choice,
Yet when you call I can’t find any of the right words to say.
I’m just happy to finally hear your voice.
Even just a moment is enough to sooth my heavy heart;
Fearing the ends of conversations knowing we’ll have to part.

I’ll never be too far from you, always within arm’s reach,
And in your days of darkness I’ll be the light that you will seek.
I’ll never let you leave too far from me, I’ll stay close behind you in this world;
Secretly protecting what is mine, you will always be my girl.
I only want the best for you so the best of me I will employ.
Faithfully yours, I will always be your boy.

I close my eyes and kiss your soft sweet lips
And see the very best of you in loving bliss.
I see past the physical which makes you attractive
And focus on the things I can’t see in which I’m attracted.
Your thoughts I’d love to hear them all.
Of the things you speak disinterest never makes its call.

My day will come, I know someday I’ll be the only one.
And you I will pursue viciously,
Because I’ve given you the greatest gift I can give, to love unconditionally.
Yes our day will come, I know someday we’ll be as one.
And you I will pursue viciously,
Because I’ve given you the greatest gift I can give… to love unconditionally.

Maybe Tomorrow

Now I'm here, fighting my own demons.
Tell can you see them, with their eyes burning so red.
My hands are weak from breaking all the molds.
I've done everything that I'm told.
I didn't know that you were so afraid of heights.
And I'm so sorry but I think that I'm far to weak
To let you think I can help you down from your pedestal tonight.
I can't help you down tonight.

I can't help but be angry. I just wish that you would save me.
Pushed the numbers down and watched them fade away.
I'm so small from down here; you're my biggest fear;
You grind my flesh and bones and feed it to all the needy kids.

I said tomorrow and today I'll be the same,
But I'll show you now that I know how I can really change.
And you might not like it. You say I'm so divisive,
I just think your indecisive, so I tell you the choices I think you should already know.
And I'm so sorry, but I'm at the brink, I cannot think tonight.
I can't let you down tonight.

Why can't I see that just maybe I'm in way over my head,
Why can't I see that just maybe I'm in way over my head.
I'm far to weak, I cannot think tonight.
Why can't you see that unfortunately your sinking just like lead,
Why can't you see that unfortunately your sinking just like lead.
And I'm so sorry but I don't think I can lift you up tonight,
Yeah your on your own tonight.

I Hope It Never Ends

The winds here.
It's come to whisper secrets
And blow my words all to the grounds.
There go all my papers,
They never had a reason or rhyme.

I'm wishing you would call me
And spare me a short story,
I can't seem to find the mind to like any of mine.
I'll hit you with a sarcastic punch line
And leave you with a black eye of regret.

Maybe one day
You'll be ready
To start just what you said.
Maybe one day
You'll be ready
To start just what you said.
I hope it never ends.

I'm here.
I'm burning like a birthday candle;
Blow me out and make a wish.
Oh so now you're not happy here.
I can't just relight myself, you can try again next year.

She's wishing that I would stop my writing,
But that's not what I like and I strike twice like lightning.
And the lighting doesn't help the situation.
It's cold in here and she's wearing my good sweater.
I start to feel a bit better when I get it back and it smells like her.

Maybe one day
You'll be ready
To start just what you said.
Maybe one day
You'll be ready
To start just what you said,
My favorite loving friend.

And you know that all my works about you
And all my doubts about you,
You know it never ends, you know it never ends.
And she hates every one of my songs,
But I can't be in the wrong.
Stop hanging on a chorus.
I didn't know that you were so porous
And that I could sink in so deep.
I really should sing with a disclaimer.
She hates all of my songs but can you blame her,
Can you blame her?

Maybe one day
You'll be ready
To start just what you said.
Maybe one day
You'll be ready
To start just what you said,
My favorite loving friend.
I hope it never ends,
I hope it never ends.

I Hope You Understand

Please just tell me that you’re sorry and all will be forgiven.
All these things in my past just hold me back from living.
You showed me all the things I shouldn’t be.
You showed me all the things I shouldn’t see.
Is forgiving you really that selfish of me?
Now that I’m older this feather must float on.
On the winds of change that will never bring us together.
If I never come to visit I hope you understand.

No one really knows what it means to grow.
You take water, you take the light.
You take two clenched fists in a nasty fight.
You take the anger, you take the might.
And you get set back where you started from.
You take all the things but where do we go?
Maybe now you’ll have what it takes to grow.

I hope one day when I have kids,
I can take everything and reflect on this.
I’ll never say empty promises.
Anger resolved in hugs and kisses.
A happy wife to a happy home means that I’ll never be left alone.
If I never come to visit I hope you understand.
And maybe then I could stop telling myself that:

I never really knew what it means to grow.
I took the water, I took the light.
I put my hands in my pocket to prevent a fight.
I took the anger, I took the might.
And found the place where it started from.
I took all these things but where do I go?
Maybe now I’ll have what it takes to grow.
And if I never come to visit I hope you understand,
That I have what it takes to be a man.

I Wonder

What if I confessed my love to you,
Tell me just what would you do?
Would you match my heart with yours
Or would you leave me lost and torn?

What if you found you felt the same
And had only fate to blame?
Tell me just how far would you reach
For you to prove that love to me?

I am but a man
With love in mind and heart at hand.
Would you take this gift from me
In your hands or set it free?

All of these questions fill my mind,
But I know my deeds will come back in my own time.
And still I wonder why I can find no sympathy in these lines.
Tell me why, these thoughts have consumed life.
Sometimes I wonder, sometimes I wonder.

If chose to walk away
Would you beg me to stay?
Would you run after me
If I felt I had to leave?

Or would stay behind
And carry on with your own life?
Could you forget just what we had
And send me off to some unknown land?

As a memory I would have to stay.
Sometimes I wonder if
It would be better of that way.
Sometimes I wonder why
I can't find sympathy in these lines.

Still I wonder why: I am but a man
With love in mind and heart at hand.

All of these questions fill my mind.
But I know my deeds will come back in my own time.
And still I wonder why I can find no sympathy in these lines.
Tell me why, these thoughts have consumed life.
I still wonder why with love in mind and heart and hand.

Under the Eclipse: For Amanda Todd

October speaks of death, I hope now she can rest,
And lay the soaring bird on down.
Underneath her clothes, only herself she loathed.
We've seen this done before.

Together they manifest their cause, ripping with their claws,
Tearing flesh and bone.
From the shame inside swelling at her sides,
She broke herself on stones.

And the monsters say "There's on her to blame,
With many heads we only think the same".
When no words of solace leave our lips,
I can tell you the world will end like this,
Under the Eclipse.

All around they slayed and left where she laid
To bleed out all her wrongs.
And now that she's gone, over with and done,
Her memories all they play.

She can show you how people lose their sanity.
She can show you how the world has lost humanity.
Those who turned their eyes, this has only you to blame.
To console yourself you say "Oh what a shame".
I can tell you how the world will end like this,
Under the Eclipse,
Under the Eclipse.

Wool across my eyes,
Shields me from this life.
Every single thread
Coating what they said.

Every drop of rain
Lights a candle in
Memory of the one
Who burned for others fun.

She can show you how people lose their sanity.
She can show you how the world has lost humanity.
Those who turned their eyes, this has only you to blame.
To console yourself you say "Oh what a shame".
I can tell you how the world will end like this,
Under the Eclipse,
Under the Eclipse.

Where is the sun?
Where is the sun?

Unknown

Who am I?
Am I defined by what is near in sight?
Am I defined by what I have done,
Or am I defined by what I could become?

Perhaps I'm of no use.
To him, or her, or I, nor you.
Or perhaps I'm too misunderstood to be defined,
And it is something like understanding that comes in time.

And if to the world I'm never shown,
Yet in my own light I've grown and grown,
And so I can know no happiness but my own--
The reason for my smile, to you, will forever be unknown.

I do not pray for the world to know my name.
For it and verse; the letters are the same.
And if a man should find his sorrow in what he reads,
I pray his pain my words to keep.

Should his eyes rain on my page,
Better tears than storms of rage.
And if a man should find his sorrow in what he reads.
I pray his pain my words to keep.

And if to the world you're never shown,
Yet in your own light you've grown and grown,
And so you know no happiness but your own.
Let the reason for your smile, to you, only be known.

Star Child

Constellations in my eyes;
Windows they're said to be.
Look into them now, and tell me what you see.

Calling every angel born in Hell:
"A child of the stars looking for his soul to sell.
So few are left to be birthed of Orion's Belt."

Soon they came; rulers of every layer.
Each to make their offer,
And leave their summoning prayer.

"Centuries of wisdom, and a mind that holds no time.
The past, present, and future are all close friends of mine,
And the Titans of the Universe I stand so close behind."

They opened all my wounds to taste how I have suffered,
Shamed me for my scars and all that I've recovered.
Then mocked me for my weakness, known only as 'The Lover'.

"It is forbidden for us to deal a soul of the cosmos,
And you taunt us for what you wish to sell.
But we've found something in you to make us heroes down in Hell."

You are protected by forces greater than your own.
Should any God or Demon make you bow before him,
Death would surely find his throne.

It's your heart that we desire, and the love that you still hold.
Grant us this purity and surely you'll have more than this world can hold.
Let it be known that your heart is the heaviest to hold.

Surely it is quite the burden to bear.
So strange in it's nature, let us free you from it's wear.
Success will quickly follow and embrace you in it's care."

Yes! Take from me all that you desire!
No longer will I suffer in it's muck and it's mire!
Do with it what you will in the cold and the fire!

With their prize, they left with no hesitation.
Legion upon legion; Hells' United Nations.
All for their Master and all in celebration.

Lowly creatures is what they're cursed to be.
They know me by many names, they know me by many faces.
And my heart I've sold on every occasion.

Fools! Surely they must know!
That every heart I give away
Brings me the love that stays.

Flow

The river cried-- oh what stones have i carried. All must resolve, all must dissolve, none of my sands may vary.

Have no fear, your waters are clear. Resilience is found in your currents. Let no stones dam your flow. I am the lake. I am your rest , i am the beauty beyond your mistakes.

Unfinished

It's all the seasons,
All the seasons in my world;
Storming all around.

All these thoughts may fill my mind,
But my time is memories.

It might drive me crazy,
Fulfilling all those needs.
And all the seeds of "maybe"
Won't be planted with my greed.

And you'll thank me one day.
Three birds, they told me so:
"Learn from the thorns in your side,
Roses always bloom too slow".

And the room yells "Maybe"!
Surely I'd love to go.
But riding on the winds of maybe,
Surely I'll never know....

Book: Reflection on the Important Things
