The Great Harvest

He greets the rising sun with a puff of black smoke,
Gritting his teeth against the cold and sending up prayers of hope.

On this tractor he sits all day, 
Never to stop unless something were to break.

Swinging the auger out to signal the tank is full,
Bank out comes up full speed and tries not to drop one hull.

All day long this is the scene, 
So perfectly timed and almost serene.

The sun starts to set,
But they continue to go, for they’re not done yet.

The painted colors of the sky,
So peaceful and stunning in his eyes.

With darkness starting to settle in and cover,
The rice dust will slowly start to hover.

He turns on the lights and continues his rows, 
For until the harvest is finished, he will never slow.

Daydreaming

Sitting in the sun, mind full of dreams and heart full of love,
Listening to the leaves in the trees as the wind slowly blows,
No worries as she watches the day pass and the sun slowly set.

Fishing

Teaching me how to put on the hook and bait,
He would cast it for me and then we'd wait

With three other kids he would go and help them too,
We would sit and watch for what bobbers do

Up and down the bobber would go,
We'd be so excited and let everyone know

Telling them we had a fish at the end of the line,
Reeling it in would take some time

Dad would want to help, but I'd say no,
This was a chance for all he had taught to show

Finally after what seemed like such a long while,
The fish hits land and I break into a smile

Mom says, "Hold up your fish!", and a picture she snaps,
This memory forever saved in a shutter and flash.

Mom and Dad

Riding my first bike and learning to tie my shoes,
These memories mean nothing without the two of you.

I've learned a lot over the years,
Not that the lessons didn't sometimes come with tears.

Sweet dreams, I love you and good night, 
I remember saying this as you turned out the light.

Four kids and you two were always there,
To teach us and guide us with love and care.

We are your children and you have raised us right,
Taught us everything we know and all about life.

You taught us to work for what we need,
Even though your advice we didn't always heed.

I've seen the love and commitment that you two share,
It makes me proud and understand that what you have is rare.

You've stuck by each other even when times were rough,
But you've always showed me that love is enough.

Love is what gets you through the not so good days,
You've always been together and by each other's side you've stayed.

I am blessed and thankful for all that you are and all you are yet to be,
Cause without you two there wouldn't be me.

You have never failed to love me over the years and in the past,
I that God that I have you two as my mom and dad.

Losing You Before I Knew

My heart is heavy and my soul aches,
I didn't know I was carrying you but it was too late.

I was crushed when that plus line showed through,
For that was the sign I had lost you.

I will never get the chance to hear your heartbeat,
Or see the outline of your little hands and feet.

I think about you often and try to not let the sadness show,
I know I must be strong through the highs and lows.

We never got the chance to meet and we don't have a birthday to celebrate,
Yet, I know I'll meet you one day in front of heaven's gate.

Faithful and True

I love you with all my heart and soul,
I love you when I'm young & I'll love you when I'm old.
 
So much of my life you affect,
Never a day spent with you I regret.
 
My heart is yours for all time,
You make me so happy that I put it in rhyme.
 
Words cannot experess the love I have for you,
Forever and always I'll stay faithful and true.

Our Fairy Tale

There once was a lost  girl who was troubled and hurt,
She chose to be with a monster who was vile and curt.
She could not wait for the day when a prince would rescue her,
Never a thought in her head that this would not occur.
 
One day she finally opened her eyes and saw the light,
She made up a plan and finally took flight.
She ran and ran as far as she could go,
It wasn't her, but God who made her path show.
 
She made it to safety,to a place she called home,
Never again would she feel so hurt and alone.
Her family and friends stood by her side,
They were always there to love, listen and guide.
 
She summoned the courage to write to a prince she knew from before,
Knowing she had hurt him and he had every right to ignore.
Never did she think he had forgiven her and still had love,
She new right then that this was a plan from above.
 
Her love for this prince was still in her heart,
She new he was the one and they made a new start.
He was perfect in every single way,
Making her wish for forever and longer days.
 
The more time they spent the harder they fell,
She felt so complete while under his spell.
She gained his trust back a day at a time,
Never was he angry, but always loving and kind.
 
They talked about their future and they both wanted the same,
Deep in love they were and deeper they became.
Their story is not even close to being done,
Rather it has really just blossomed and begun.
 
Their story stops here until their next chapter in life,
Where he will be on one knee and ask her to be his wife.
I know they will be happy and their love will last for all time,
So sure I am of this, because this fairy tale is mine...

Perfect For Me

I love him and he loves me,
Happy together we are,
Happy forever we'll be.
Never take for granted the person you love,
Ecspecially when they've always given you their love.
Smiles and laughter is what I need,
So perfect he is, so perfect for me.
