A Broken Dream

At the corner of these hollow ideas
Where you once sung
now lays a cemetery
filled with decayed melodies

Was I not good enough
to ride your wings
and fly away?

Was laziness
intelligent enough to steal you
in my crafted hands?

You were robbed
in daylight
and tossed to swim on air

Yesterday,
you were a candle
that was once ready
to light my tomorrow
Today,
you are a dark
that closes my doors
and covers my sight

I Am An African

I am an African
I was born in Africa
Suckled mother Africa breast
I am beauty Africa

I stand under blue skies
Over drastic mountains
To behold vibrant countries
And feel at home

I bow down to salute heroes
Died on struggle
Striving Africa liberation
Development and capacity

Hail Africa
You are our mother
Feeding us with prosperity
Anointing us with acceptance

Africa is my mother
She will never fade
Gloom or cease
I am an African

Who Are We

Are we gods and ancestors?
Are we giants and heroes
With heart made of stone
Oh life, tell us

Are we the products of self absorption?
From the reactants of hatred and greed
In the presence catalyst of ignorance
Oh life, define us

Are we inhuman with our shameful eyes?
That seeks darkness
And chase smoke
Oh life, forgive us

Are we pain to the world?
With our faded life
Forged identities
Oh life, fill us

I Am a Poet

Would you gaze in haze?
as the blood boils deep in my veins
Appreciate or hate
as I draw my words
on my sensitized pad
Would you believe or ignore
as I say undoubted
I am a poet

Like a tree
I am the leaves of poetry
Hitched on with passion
and love

In my mind
In my soul
In my heart
I am a poet

Saint of imperative words
and persistent rhythms
that comes and goes
to soothe frozen life.

My Heart In the World

My heart cries
for change in the world

My heart bleeds
for peace in the world

My heart seeks
fullness in the world

My heart beats
for love in the world

My heart howls
for sanity in the world

My heart hopes
for greatness in the world

My heart fades
for hate in the world

My heart dies
for life in the world

My heart prays
for faith in the world

My heart crawls
for growth in the world

but the world
spills my heart like water held in its hand.

Music

In the deepest chamber of my heart
You make love to my soul
No words can describe the flow you create
My beloved, continue to speak to my senses endless
My ears adore melting in your hands
As you massage my spirit with your melody
