Adoption Pantoum

Adoption Pantoum
By Victoria H. Peurifoy © 8/2010

His conception was a surprise
Mom is mad as hell, wants me under a jail
Daughter ages ten years in the process
Marriage is not in the plan

Mom is mad as hell, wants me under a jail
Counselor is making suggestions
Marriage is not in the plan
Give up the child or keep the child

Counselor is making suggestions
Takes one time to make a mistake
Give up the child or keep the child
Want to go to the prom in a dress bordered in daisies.

Takes one time to make a mistake
Give up the child, make mommy happy.
Want to go to the prom in a dress bordered in daisies.
Don’t tell daddy, he’s away, doesn’t need to know

Give up the child, make mommy happy.
Sign away your first born and mourn
Don’t tell daddy, he’s away, he really doesn’t need to know
I heard he was trying to reach me

Sign away your first born and mourn
When he searched for me, mom sent him away
I heard he was trying to reach me
Wonder if he’s fair, brown eyes, and can sing?

When he searched for me, mom sent him away
They changed his name, took away the one thing I gave him
Wonder if he’s fair, brown eyes, and can sing?
Take away the shame, the blame and the pain.

They changed his name; took away the one thing I gave him
Friends cried for him and me when they saw him.
Take away the shame, the blame and the pain.
Lord, will I see my son before you take me away?

Friends cried for him and me when they saw him.
Daughter aged ten years in the process
Lord, will I see him before you take me away?
His conception was a surprise.

The Fence

THE FENCE By: Victoria H. Peurifoy The Fence said, “I am here to allow entry to no offender”. But the Opposer said, “I am freedom of life, Liberty, and doing my own thing. The Fence said “I do not care. I am designed to be a barrier Of all things.” Yet again, The Opposer said, I am about togetherness and love and a willingness To dream; of what it would be like to be on the other Side of that strong veneer you reveal Mr. Fence. The Fence has no intention of allowing movement of Body or expression. The Opposer has a challenge; merge upon the Fence To force its invincibility; and make it consider the Possibilities of allowing The Opposer positive control over it. The Opposer has no design On destruction, only a desire That Mr. Fence has never considered. Love; togetherness; entry; freedom to live; To speak; to control; and to open the gate of the Fence. We all have a Fence within, but we are also the Opposer…so we can change. Are you the Fence, Or the Opposer?

God's Trees

GOD’S TREES Poem: Victoria H. Peurifoy © 10/27/2006 God has a way with his trees, The autumn, spring, winter and summer trees are all beautiful in his form. It is amazing as I ride the highway, how God has just Touched each tree and given us Shades of green, auburn, burgundy, yellow, gold, pea, and moss and even gray. The colors don’t seem to end. Even browns, tans and other hues envelope the earth. God gives us different heights, sizes, shapes and dimension just with the touch of his finger or with just a thought in his mind. Feel the breeze from his breath. We need to appreciate the natural beauties with which God has blessed us. Sometimes his nature seems inconvenient for us, but we often forget his nature was here before we were thought about. More colors have I discovered, as I ride this highway. God has made us with colors too; And they too, we have not learned to appreciate. We are just like God’s trees, colorful, shapely, short to gargantuan, and rooted in our ways. God’s trees are of his spirit and mindset. We destroy God’s tree just like we destroy ourselves. The next time you see God’s tree, smile to yourself about how wonderful God is, and how wonderful are his trees.
