Give Me Strength

The ground is painted and the sky is torn
An old man passes and a baby is born
The war is over but the memories are strong
My time is coming; It can’t be long

The heroes are gone their stories engraved
They took their glory to the grave
The world is turning I can feel it spin
It feels like a fire burning within

I remember the sounds that they would make
I remember feeling the Earth shake.
“God give me strength”, I said aloud
As I stormed the beaches feeling proud

I fought with honor yet I lived in fear
And as my brothers died beside me I shed no tears
Now I feel the pain of my brothers long ago
And I finally pull the trigger because I’m going home
