Daddy's Little Princess

“Apple of his eyes, yes that’s me. Can’t you see?"
Name brand bags
Toys galore
Outfits like crazy ONLY Hanna Montanna got more.

Check out the pony he brought me last month
Check out the mini diamond bracket and check out my bank account.

Daddy’s little princess, yes, that’s me.
Daddy says he will take me to Paris as soon as he closes the deal.
“Apple of his eyes, yes that’s me. Can’t you see?"

The Unheard Voice

Let my voice represent those seeking emotional, physical and or mental emancipation!
Let my voice be that of the woman whose cries go unheard in the humdrum activities of this life!
Let my voice be the microphone that bellows the wails of the suppress, underprivileged and less fortunate!
Let my voice be that of the Freedom fighters: Nanny of the maroons, Rosa Parks and Susie King Taylor!
Let my voice be that of the unheard who speeches fall on deaf ears...
Let my voice be that of the unsung song that is shelved because it does not fit the profile of success- greed, sexual immortality, jealousy,
                                                                           scandal!
Let my voice be the voice that seeks peace.
Let my voice be the voice that tells the stories of millions who were denied an opportunity.
Let my voice be the voice that speaks or articulates godly qualities.
Let my voice be the voice of those who have been muted by the society- The Unheard Voice!

The Classroom

QUIET, quiet, quiet!!!
Why won't these children listen?
They are constantly talking oblivious of the fact that their education is going down the drain.

Can't they see the opportunity that they have been given to elevate themselves?
Can't they see that some underpriviledged or unfortunate child would be glad to be in their position for just a day?

What a waste to plan a good lesson when you cannot execute it?
Sasha, Marie, Ann, Paul, Jerome SIT DOWN
Junior, DO not hit David with the ruler.
YES, yes, Monique, you may go to the restroom.
NO, no, Shanique, you may not sit in THAT seat!

Beauty

Beauty stems from an inner source, mixed with a tang of mercy…
Beauty elevates the face, coerces a smile, caresses the dimples, fortifies the eyes…
Beauty

Beauty embraces the homeless, shelters the elderly, provides for the orphans…yeah beauty.
Beauty is inside me and oh yeah it is inside you…
Hooray Beauty!!!

Believe In Yourself

Believe in Yourself
By Anoush Harrison-Jackson

Believe in YOURSELF
Believe in YOURSELF
Believe in YOURSELF!!!
When everyone and I mean EVERYONE tells you NO, whisper softly to yourself YES.
When friends and family tell you stop wasting your time, tell them you are only preparing for SUCCESS.
Believe in YOURSELF
Believe in YOURSELF
Believe in YOURSELF!!!
Do not quit
Do not give in to that lethargic feeling that tells you that you are a loser.
“Oh no, you are NOT!”
You are a winner, so take courage.
It takes courage to even try.
It takes courage to compete.
It takes courage to complete.
So do not give in.
Take stock.
Take risk.
Take chances
And
Believe in yourself
Success is just a thought away.

To Be Happy

I choose to be happy
In spite of the heartaches, headaches and even stomachaches
I choose to be happy...

I choose to be happy
Inspite of the frustrations, rejections and even opposition
I choose to be happy.....

I choose to be happy amidst treachery, amidst violence , amidst corruption, amidst deception. I choose to be happy...

I choose to be happy...
To uplift with the radiance of smile
To be the change that I want
I choose to be happy...

Daddy's Little Princess Ii

Daddy Little Princess...
Daddy’s little princess, my bundle of joy, my reason for living, my happiness in the winter season
Your warm penetrating eyes scream you’re mine…
Daddy’s little princess, my motivation, my energizer bunny, my special baby
Your gentle sunny smile melts my heart…
Daddy’s little princess, my hope, my secret ambitions wrap in the palm of your hands
Your soft delicate demeanor makes me see the world a little better

Miss Claris

Out of the hills of St. Catherine and the plains of Linstead
emerge a warrior princess…
A victor not a victim of her circumstances, struggles or plight
Miss Claris

With warm, loving, industrial hands she raised a large bunch of children…
Curry saltfish, roti, curry goat, fried chicken,
Mackerel run-down, roast yam, bammy
She could cook it all…
Miss Claris

Fierce, blunt, tell it like it is –Miss Claris
She has an endless list of alias for everyone-
Miss Uptown (that’s me), Dunnie, Baugh, Tony, Pauline, Junie, Mellow, Mousy, Sueie, Manchin, Chu-cho, Lovene, Darkie, Sam, Tin-Tin, Troy, PAULINE
Miss Claris
A fantastic sense of style, unconventional sense of religion, devotion to family and friends and a beautiful smile:
Miss Claris

Teacher

You want to teach me how to teach yet you are not so discreet with your racial and social preferences.
You want to teach me how to be "refine" yet I would get a fright when I see you at night.
You want to teach me to socialize yet when we meet in the streets you turn head to wave at the other person who is busy crossing the street.

You, my teacher, have taught me to forgive
You , my teacher, have taught me to be genuine
You, my teacher, have taught me to be sociable

Although you possess none of these....

Respect

RESPECT
RESPECT is the gift I would extend to you if I could.
RESPECT
RESPECT is a rare commodity that is not sold in a factory
RESPECT
RESPECT cannot be attained by your vast wealth
RESPECT
RESPECT is a priceless luxury in this modern economy
RESPECT
RESPECT yourself and others.
RESPECT.
