Mending a Broken Heart

Nothing as cold as a winter of black.
the world still moves, as if nothing has changed.
"a snow angel" i thought as she fell back.
she looked to the stars "they all seem arranged".
her eyes a sunrise on the Coral Sea.
Years pass people, continue in rejoice.
my despair endless, as challenger deep.
i long for her warmth, and ache for her voice.
her love for me eternally in stone.
love crashing down in a thunderous wave.
stars came and went but i stood there alone.
waiting for deaths sweet grip, by true loves grave.
when joy comes with curved blade and dark cloak.
time will mend the heart, it long ago broke.

Love Is True

Loves
Ocean
Vast, calm, and
Endlessly deep.
Indescribable
Sunsets rise and they fall.
Tenuous memories fade
Relieving us of faulted love.
Understanding there has never been
Engulfs perception and alters our gaze.

Roses For Amelia

A rose blooms in the shadows of spring,
it is picked with love for her.
A prick of the thorn to show my love
One drop of blood to show I care.

A selfless gesture, the sound of loves beat;
shakes the ground and weakens my knees.
I would have held you till the last pedal feel
Not above you, shattered from grief.

Rest in peace my darling,
May heavens light be a blanket for two
When time comes for my rose to be picked
I will finally come home to you.

The rose I picked for Amelia
Lies in the dirt and withers away
The rose I picked for Amelia
She'll never see, I was one day too late.

Beneath

Beneath the ocean, below what we know
lies a word most souls never see.
those who dare travel to that depth
Discover passion abreast true despair.

Above the surface our bearings hold fast,
the way home can always be seen.
Fore far beneath the calm we show
love rages and it's jaws won't release.

Loves first real gaze hinders all time and space
all things lost appear to be found
One moment, love seems like the glue
till the chaos changes all we perceive.

If I Could Go Back

If I could go back
To where
This all started.
I would change so many things
I could even alter my fate.
So that I would never feel
This heart ache.
Why you’ve turned your back
I will never know or understand.
If I could go back
To where
This all started for me.
I would stop myself so that I
Would never feel this way again.
I think I can see the walls
Closing in.
If I could go back
To where
I started on this path.
I would stop
And go
The other way,
And hopefully run into somebody
Who can love me.
If I could go back.

Leaves

Leaves
pouring
down like rain
showering me
with a fresh new day.
seasons come, seasons go
carrying more than we see
hold endless possibilities.
changing our eyes to see fresh once more
old problems always run straight for my door
but before they leave they stop and recall
its over? no, just the start of fall.
ignorance never quick to leave
disguised as simple desire
all we long for, crave, need
plant a tiny tree
love, water, light
down like rain
pouring
leaves.

Annabelle

All his ink wells ran dry
From uncertain thought
His nib dripping with ink from within,
The crimson script full of regret
From what has and has not been.

Grief stricken eyes
Nails turning to dust
Hair falling with every turn of the page,
He reeked of whiskey and the troubles it brought
The smell worsened as she started to age.

As the hour glass ticked
The months blew away
Times ocean began to swell
But not a soul came through at anytime
Looking for his sweet so sweet Annabelle.

Sea of Truth

A cell of shallow frozen guilt
holding a heart that always beats.
Four walls the sun seldom sees,
there's no lock, yet there is a key.

So many stare, yet cannot pass
for the key cannot be made;
in the fires of hope and truth alas
lies crumble then finally give way.

In the rubble of what you have built,
the light shines right off the sea.
You'll build your cell lie by lie
Until the truth finally sets you free.

Food For Thought

Family
          is not in the blood,
        but in the heart.

Humility
is not knowing how untalented you are,
but knowing how talented others can be.

Knowledge
is not what we have learned,
but what we deemed important enough to remember.

Ignorance
            is not a condition,
but an impromptu consequence of contentedness.

Reality
            is not what we perceive,
but merely your understanding, in the absence of what others understand.

Dreams

My silent screams
fall on deaf ears.
My eyes say words
that no one hears.

My soul reaches out,
but no ones there.
My heart is cold
and never shared

My dreams are filled
with things I crave.
My days pass by
as empty haze.

What I desire,
what my soul screams.
Is that my days
are like my dreams.
