I Am the Mother of War

Tears drop from Mother Earth’s eyes
At the unspeakable horrors
Released by humankind.

Born from Her womb,
These children of Earth murder
Among themselves to the very last.

Mercy flees the scene
As dark knights of Adam charge forth
Into the red mist of blood.

Bullet after bullet,
And sword after sword
Plunge deep into men’s bodies.

Raw violence infiltrates the souls
Of those who rage uncontrolled
Toward their screaming brethren of the Earth.

Their mother sheds another tear
For her dear children gone astray
Fated to lie evermore on bloodstained deathbeds.

Trampled under the marching drumbeat,
Shattered dreams and dashed hopes
Die their death amidst empty corpses.

Mourning the immense loss of life,
Mother sadly gazes down on her children
And speaks the words: I am the Mother of War.

An Icy Touch

Winter closes its firm grip
And sucks the warmth of the world
By unleashing its frosty breath.
Every trace of life shivers at the certain death
Foretold in winter's icy touch.
Desperate for want of spring's beauty,
Green spurts of vibrant color perk up
From the chilled ground layered with snow.
Greedy to its last breath,
Winter steals all.

None can live amidst the icy encasing.
None can thrive whilst winter reigns supreme.
Warmth burrows deep into the cold ground
To be nearer to Earth's warm warm heart.
Bright bursts of color flee before the tyrannous lord.
Animals holding fires of warmth in their chests
Withdraw from the frigid air berating their bodies.
Delicate leaves part from their mother tree
And rest rejected beneath white snowy oppressors.
Always winter will conquer.

A Ring For Christmas

A few years have past
Truly all too fast.
My husband proposed that day,
On a Christmas holiday.
He gave me a ring
Which promised our wedding.
Down on one knee,
He committed himself to "we."
That ring he did give
For us to together live.

My Favourite Dish

Cherry turnovers hold a certain charm for one such as I.
Their delectable taste really and truly does satisfy.
All in all, they are my very very favourite dish
So much so that I would ask for an endless supply as my genie wish.
A sweet dessert that ends a delicious meal,
This lovely dish, for me, calls with great appeal.
I love the red so alike to the color of a rose after a bath of rain.
Such color and rich sweetness in something far from plain!
Eat them when cherry juice oozes and golden is the crust.
Trust me in that cherry turnovers are an absolute must!
Fulfilling to a growling tummy and the taste buds of the tongue,
Cherry turnovers have been my favourite ever since I was young!

In Need of Escape

Sin corrupts human souls.
Evil controls human minds.
We need escape.

Tragic consequences befall those who wander.
Lack of purpose invites evil forces.
We need escape.

Mere humans cannot fight this overarching enemy.
Set aside greedy lust in the pursuit of absolute power
And one will have the ultimate escape!
