Aleta Pope Poem
The Moth and The Flame
There once was a moth and a flame
the moth he loved but could never tame
He loved the flame and her radiant light
and he flew to her faithfully every night
but one night he flew to close
her flame was burning like a bright red rose
He fell from the air and out of sight
leaving the flame to burn in the lonesome night.

Aleta Pope Poem
Angry Eyes
Earth,earth strangling earth
I ride with you toward extinction
Your oceans thickening like gravy, smothering and suffocating
You are becoming a latrine
Your trees are twisted and contorted
your flowers moan,their faces distorted
Your clouds once white,now yellow
sick with jaundice
Your rivers like veins spill out over it's banks
your fish get tangled in your scorched hair, tangling
all in all I feel the earth strangling
I look up to the moon wearing the reaper's dark hood
suddenly it falls out of the sky
and it's hungry red mouth sucks out my angry eyes.

Aleta Pope Poem
Seasons Changing
Autumns come,seasons changing
Mother earth gently rearranging
leaves of red,orange and gold
glorious colors do unfold
winter is coming it's in the air
I feel it's chilly fingers run thru my hair
soon the ground will be covered in white
as snow falls quietly in the night
and when the snow melts and it's time for spring
the earth reborn,crisp and clean
flowers pop up everywhere
everywhere you look you see
the inevitable colors of spring
my favorite color glorious green
Summer is here and in full bloom
as I sit under a full, jeweled summer moon
I love the 4 seasons each one of them all
spring,summer,winter and

Aleta Pope Poem
I am sorry they found you,you were at rest
where you wanted to be ,surely they jest?
But no it's true they found your remains
taking you away from your watery domain
in the river's bend, but I know you will always be there
where your soul did descend.

Aleta Pope Poem
FREE
I will never love again yes I made this decision
I don't want the hurt or need the stress
and I am not writing this under duress
I'm young I'm wild I'm free.Free of heart ache
free of pain, free of someone who will hurt me again
Free of love's confining chains free of it's barbed wire
Free of love...I do retire.

Rain
Rain,rain swirling down
gentle patter's it's only sound
you tilt your face to feel it fall
as it taps your cheek like a kitten's paw.

Aleta Pope Poem
No Safe Place
The summer sun ray's trickle thru the trees
it sucks at the air I breathe and looks around for me
I hear voices whispering in the grass
I hear them chanting all day
The grass blades extend and feel around for me
and the sky breaks and sags
it's scorching breath upon my face
There is no safe place.

Aleta Pope Poem
The River He Loved
The river he loved till the very end
was it his enemy or his best friend?
He knew the consequences,he could not swim
yet he took his chances again and again
He knew one day his luck would run out
but I know the river was his friend and his chosen way out.
