You Inspire Me

You Inspire Me We met and you were shy Afraid to reach out Afraid of being judged For being different and not being accepted Never seeing the wonderful person you already are The person the world sees You are sweet and loving A true beauty A person who dares to be different You are not just my best friend You inspire me to march to the beat of my own drum Not caring what others think You inspire me to get to know people And accepting them despite their differences You inspire me to let them touch my life and heart Just as you have touched them So thank you for being The beautiful person you are And for daring to be my best friend I love you and will always be there for you My dorky, unconventional friend!

Never Just a Dog

Never Just a Dog The day was long and hard You greet me at the door Ever ready to show the love Ever ready to listen Never judging, never arguing You wag your tail and smile Patiently waiting to have my Hand; gently scratch your ears Patiently waiting for your leash to snap in place Slowly you take the lead out into the world Walking in companionship You feel the tension leaving my body Your excitement grows, and yet you patiently wait You wait for the smile and the signal to play There it is! That loosened leash that says freedom You chase the blowing leaves around until the true prize comes forward Your favorite ball sails through the air and you run as fast as you can to retrieve it Then back again to my side You drop the ball and wait for me to pick it up and send it flying through the air again Again, and, again the ball flies until the darkness is coming and your tummy rumbles You sit and patiently wait for the snap of the leash once again Tonight is a special night; we take an extra run around the park to burn off the rest of the day’s tension Home at last for some kibble and a drink You settle next to me, and nap as I slowly drift off I nestle next to your warmth and smile You are my friend, my companion But never just a dog

A Journey So Fare

A Journey So Fare Your time is near to fly home We never imagined it would come so soon We can never know the exact moment of when Just as it will always be Some things I do know, and will share It was an incredible journey for sure Brothers who cared for you and taught a young boy how to be a man Brothers and a sister to help you heal from the loss of your mother Fatherhood brought much joy and sometimes pain, Love all the same A successful career and a loving wife A tight circle of friends More like family than friends People who love you, and those you love We all shared the path of life at one point or another Even now with the end so near We are with you as you come to the end of this journey We cannot come with you on the next one You take our hearts, and our prays as you begin it No fear in your heart No pain to feel You go in the best of hands On a journey most fare So with a soft kiss and a warm hug We wish you God speed Until we meet again And we will meet again On our own journey so fare For my Uncle Charlie with much love!

My Dear One

My Dear One My dear one, a man who loves deeply and fiercely A man with flaws Fighting the beast within One moment at a time My dear one Finding himself again My dear one Reach out your hand and open your heart Take my hand and walk with me Feel me near My dear one Know without words how I love you Feel my desires and hopes for us Hand in hand, I will walk with you My Dear One Together we will overcome the obstacles before us We shall share the laughter and tears together Our hearts and souls connecting becoming as one My heart My soul My love My dear one

Weathering the Storm

Weathering the Storm The sun shines so bright Warming me with its light The storm has past me by Showing its might I found shelter from the storm In advice that was so right Bend with the storm and live life Fore, there will be other storms to weather and days of bright Shining light Days filled with laughter and joy That will steal the storms might Until it is nothing but a gently, blowing breeze Blowing in new hopes and dreams Dreams of happiness and love A life of surprises and experiences to live Live in those moments and make The most of each moment Fore no storm has the might To block all the light

Little Miracles

Little Miracles Boys and girls fighting the hard fight Some born into the battle others thrust into it later in life Living one day at a time Some only a moment at a time Poked and prodded Tired and sick Talking in adult terms When they should be playing without any worries Just enjoying the wonders of childhood Spending their days with friends and family Not doctors and nurses Not hooked to machines Little miracles that fight hard just to survive Little miracles that have more love and kindness than most The bravest of the brave Strongest in the ways that matter the most The wisest of us all They teach us what it is to be brave, and strong To have hope Maybe not for them but for the little miracles that follow The hope for a cure of the future The hope for a little miracle Written By: Janet Setters

I Love You

I Love You People have come and gone Through the years and tears Staying for a while then moving on Making me wonder what is wrong with me Never finding the true heart To rest upon my hearth Then one day lost in cyber space I saw you reaching out Words of honesty and care A man true and fare I knew I wanted to know the truth I saw Therefore, I reached through cyber space to you Full of fear and wonder I risked it all Not knowing if I would fall Fall, I did, and so did the walls No pedestal for you or me Just who we are True and real Walking side by side through it all I will love you through all that life brings The good, the bad, the laughter, and the tears The love will always be there for us to share I love you

Snow Falls

Snow Falls Crisp air in the night Sky full of moonlight The snow gently falling like diamond dust Covering the earth with sparkling gems Soft and pure in its beauty leaving the world in silence I stand letting the blanket of silence envelop me, Tilting my head into the night sky The snow landing on my cheeks and lips Like a lover’s caressing kiss Coaxing the earth into a gentle sleep Blanketing us all in winter’s peace Silently the snow falls Written By: Janet Setters
