Face of a Beggar Child

FACE OF A BEGGAR CHILD

I saw your tear-stained face O’ child
It swam before my eyes at night
I clearly saw your life’s struggle,
Your painful hunger pangs and fright.

In my dreams I could clearly see
Your shredded clothes and unkempt hair.
At such a tender age O’ child,
On your face it was all written there.

No one to care for you my child
No one to call your very own.
No mother nor father to call you son,
No siblings to call you come hither bro’.

I wondered how you came to be
In such a distressed way of life
Each day you have to beg for alms
And face the world’s rage and strife.

Were you the victim of natural disaster,
Like quake or floods epidemic or plague.
Or was it due to human vices
Like war or bloody bath of death.

Were you lost in busy hustle of life,
Was it all due to human greed.
Were you the fruit of sin and tossed,
Amidst dirty dustbin where dogs came to feed.

Your tear-stained face swims before my eyes,
And asks me how it came to be.
That God created all humans alike,
But gave them different destiny.

Oh God, this your humble servant,
Asks you just one small question.
If there are so many tear-stained faces present,
Why Mother Teressa was only one.

God Is Just Kind and Merciful

God Is Just Kind And Merciful

Upon all rivers, hills and vales,
Who rules over world so beautiful ?
Behold, Lord of heaven and earth,
God Is Just Kind And Merciful.

God created heaven and earth,
All Universe so wonderful;
Also creatures big and small,
God Is Just Kind And Merciful.

Sun, moon, stars, all galaxies,
Snow – clad mountains, forests and rain;
His footprints are rainbows colourful,
God Is Just Kind And Merciful.

Seas, oceans, and deep waters,
Sharks, whales, and sea turtles;
Pearl oysters, corals, fishes colourful,
God Is Just Kind And Merciful.

Rain forests, lush green trees,
Squirrels, birds and honey bees;
All wild creatures so wonderful,
God Is Just Kind And Merciful.

With wars looming overhead,
Humans, don’t indulge in bloodshed;
We all must better be careful,
God Is Just Kind And Merciful.

Nuclear and biological weapons,
If used they will spell our doom;
Result of wars will be painful,
God Is Just Kind And Merciful.

For all God’s blessings let’s be grateful,
With Divine blessings life will be meaningful;
Destruction of God’s work is so sinful,
God Is Just Kind And Merciful.

Shun differences of religion, caste and creed,
 Wipe tears of poor and needful;
Let us make this world peaceful,
God Is Just Kind And Merciful.

World needs noble souls like Mother Teresa,
Whose selfless love for destitutes;
Made so much difference to woeful,
God Is Just Kind And Merciful.

My Puss

MyPuss

Full of fun- frolic and mischief too
My Puss filled my heart with joy;
What antics he would like to do
Oh what objects were his toy.
Behind the curtain, beneath the chair
My puss played bereft of single care.

Jump and catch the leaves falling
and floating down over gentle breeze;
Oft times in sun simply lolling
Or chasing squirrels and the geese.
Climbing quickly trees in fright
when puppies barked at him in sight.

Grooming self by licks of tongue
And cleansing as to shine his fur;
My puss enjoyed a gentle stroke
And he would quickly start to purr.
He hated bath and hated rain
From water and soap he would refrain.

Lap up milk he would from a saucer
It was his favorite meal of the day;
Soon he would its taste savour
But meat and fish made him happy and gay.
He enjoyed playing with the mouse
that catch he could around the house.

Like butterflies fluttering in the sky
Puss enriched my life like an angel;
Like butterflies fluttering in the sky
He flutterred away to be an angel.
In my dreams he comes and purrs
And entices me with his shiny fur.

Compassion Towards Humanity

Compassion Towards Humanity

As I take a look around myself, I see
Life, so full of sufferings and strife;
Let me render a service towards humanity,
Before I welcome the sunset of my life.

What I see is natural calamities, like floods,
And opposites like rivers drying up,
Earthquakes, cyclones, global warmings,
Also man – made disasters coming up.

Train derailments, hunger, poverty, disease,
Murders, corruption, rapes and theft,
Terrorists inflicting fear in human minds
Nations rising against each other, humanity bereft.

Educational institutes making money
Through donations and exorbitant fees,
How will our youth address the problems of tomorrow,
Will not humanity come down to its knees ?

We need to think beyond ourselves,
And serve humanity with love, now so rare,
Let’s lift the downtrodden, feed the hungry,
Clothe the poor, with dedication and care.

There is need to do so much in life,
God give me strength and means to cast
a spell and heal the wounds of humans
And give them love and happiness to last.

No small act of kindness is insignificant,
Do all tiny acts of love and care;
Help or heal only one soul it’s no less
Make lots of difference to the one, whom you cared.

Save earth, save flora and save the fauna,
Save farmers, save agriculture and save the nature;
Save rivers, save humanity and save the eco – system,
And towards the poor and needy do a special favour.
