May Mummy Be Wrong

I sat akimbo like a worried octogenarian
the wind sighed and felt my pains
the sands shivered, while i frowned at nature's stony-strong smiles
I stood up from the chair and sat on the dust
praying hard though pessimistic,
for my prayers to materialize;
as the resonance of the past bit my ears
the vile vibration of the present held my heart tenaciously
and in an attempt to predict the future
my heart wandered into the desert of oblivion

Mummy you have helped me
I need not ask whether you are my mum or not
if all mothers were like you
the earth would have been better than heaven!
I have always heeded your advice because you deserved it
Mama! you know the pains I am passing through now,
friends and gods have rejected me, not because they do not love me
but because I am now a failure
and indeed, no god or man identifies with failure
except the unknown deity that revealed himself to me

Mama! you have further crushed my mutilated and maimed mind
and at this point that all rejected me,
my beacon came, gave me joy, wiped my tears, felt my pains,
dressed my wounds, made me smile and even attempted to heal my injury
but thoughts have said my beacon is not pure,
words have said my beacon will bring me sorrow in the morrow,
ideas have said my beacon will destroy me
but i refuse to believe it! my beacon is the reason I still live!
I shout mama! as my eyes are soaked in tears,
may you be wrong mama! may you never be right in this matter!!!

Uncrushable

She sat on a template of steel forged by mortals
whose hands were stronger than that of ten trillion giants
fused together in ten fingers!
her ambience suffocated all lungs like the sight of a hungry lion
Men of might, fame and prestige dared to devour her
but one by one, she turned their strengths to dust
and desperacy fled nakedly like a helpless widow
while uncertainty smiled like a hopeful beggar,
as fear soaked the minds that sat watching
and pessimism mopped the meninges of all

Alas! a second die is cast
deities took their turn to crush her
but it turned out otherwise
strong surprise gripped the breast of men like a quarrelsome woman
knitting her husband with mischief
I then sipped my honey- the earth's sweetest thing
but it had turned to gall!
O manly woman! should I pay tributes to you for your might
or because of the evil that you wreak?
Time indeed will tell

If I Could Touch the Helm of Her Garment

My darling sat so sweetly like a contented woman
her crown was knitted with topaz and pure glistering gold
her succulent soft skin brought mad thoughts to his knees
her face was more glistering than the night stars
her lovable lofty hips eclipsed the sun!
her dear dear tongue was wetter than the fishes of the ocean
her eyebrows were more ravishing than the early morning sun
her kiss being smoother than early morning delicacies
her laps will sink the holiest of men into the quicksands of passion
her seat radiates even more of her beauty

she stood up with full blown beauty from her seat
swaying and shaking her hips from side to side
mesmerized by her ambience, my emotion dissolved like a candle wax
and I forgot how to breath
She looked at me carefully and smiled
I then dashed towards her like a resourceful idiot controlled by emotion
but she meandered and walked away
I sat helplessly crying like an orphaned infant bird
why should i lose one of the most beautiful things on earth?
if she would not allow me to hold her,
then let her allow me to touch the helm of her garment
for this alone could give me all I wanted

Who is this darling of mine?
She is peace! absolute peace!! total peace!!!
that gives one joy and keeps one from trouble, sorrow and tears!

Lofty Thoughts

Intricacy shook her buttocks
so strongly like an elated prostitute
in an attempt to subdue mystery
I wandered into oblivion
nature the friendly, wind the peaceful
and time the unpredictable
kissed one another and settled
melee has knitted an invincible web of pessimism
that crushed almighty optimism to a thousand pieces

Two choices are placed before my mind
the fortunes of nature
and the fruits of time
should he choose or should he not?
I have detested cowards even before I was born
and I hate indecision more than cowardice
my mind closed his eyes
and made a choice of one of the two
but which has he picked?

like an Ifa priest
I closed my eyes and mumbled words
sweet smiles embraced me
as we collapsed on my bed
and slept in pure undiluted ecstasy

Dare To Speak

I sat at the river bank like a jobless swimmer
as the flank of my heart wandered into the thick of oblivion
I am not here to bathe at the river
and I am not jobless too;
the unfriendly sun bit my soft succulent skin mercilessly
but my harmless yet sensitive skin
has chosen the path of peace with the sun
for all that is oppressing me and drawing my attention
is the pitless puzzle and mighty matrix
concocted from within the crypts of my heart

I eagerly sip my cold wine
like a joyful and fulfilled septagenarian
but I am neither joyful nor fulfilled
I then lift my head from the darkness of my heart
towards the eloquence of the setting sun
and screamed with renewed vigour
like a lunatic giant who is both drunk and overfed
"O star my emblem and staff" will you ever rise again?
if you rise, will you ever glow again?
will you attract kings, nobles and pawns to me?

I am exhausted from my shouting and I need energy
I reached for the remnant of my wine
and gulped it voraciously
may God be gracious to me as he was at my birth.
