My Country Trinidad and Tobago

You see my country Trinidad and Tobago ? It's Truly a place of paradise most people don't
know. The many races tells you about the many places we came from our ancestor. They to
came here. Some from India, Spain, France and Africa just to name a few.But I born here so
I am a Trini which I guess you knew.Smiling and laughing is not a habit, it's a way of
life in my country. As clear as the open sand and sea.The food touches every senses of
your being just as the music speaks to your soul. In a place with your inner self you can
never grow old.The legends and the stories from my country is true. About how Carnival was
born or music coming out of an oil drum too! But let me not say too much. As Trinidad and
Tobago should not be something you hear once but must be an experience!

West Indian Woman

As she walks with a graceful rhythm, when the wind brushes her hair back from her neck
down to her soul. Where the fire ignites her flaming beauty. From the deep in the
Himalaya's to the Caribbean sea. Her scents draws the scenes of pleasure from a weary sole
to a man of stature. She is West Indian from many cultures in the islands across the
seas. When she laughs it's infectious to everyone. From the early morning rise,to the
setting sun. Once you get to know her you would always learn. No matter where you come
from you will return.

West Indian

As the waves roll in and lash upon the rocks

Is like in the slightest cool breeze I could hear

And with out fear , a distant voice saying to

to be hold something greater than me.

Yes in this place I will plant my seed because

This soil is blessed with three unseen spirits and will grow after toil of sweat, blood
and tears and my generations will come to know me.

A man of distinction, yes I am a West Indian !

And Then I Smile

No one knows the challenges and fears of one's

heart. For many go along this

lonely path. The choices you

made. The brightness has

fade.Only sadness and regrets

at the start.

From January to

December.We know troubles

don't last forever.Just as

seasons come and go.Is the reason

why they are temporary as we

know.

But maybe now or just

the least. We can take time to

find that inner peace. For just a

moment or in a while. All your

troubles fades away with a

smile

My Granny

As I wake up I in the morning I can smell the hot chocolate on the stove. Added with
spice, cinnamon and clove. Warms my heart with love in it's simplicity! From the one I
know who can, Granny. You see, it doesn't take a lot for her to show. The way she loved me
I know. As I lay my head on her lap, she tells me stories. Sometrue some false others like
a romance through a midnight waltz. People new and respected her as the person she was.
The fighter for the underprivileged a worthy cause. Along the way she was a saint. A cruel
person she ain't. Always had a word to share.Which keeps together the family so near.I
guess that's why God calls her now to be with him for more than a while. That's why when
I wake up every morning a smell hot chocolate I remember and smile.

A Color of Perfection

If I walk with my head up

with pride.Don't be offended. I

ain't got nothing to hide.I'm here

now so I can sing.I'm a child

of a king.I don't need to be

famous.I just know my

purpose.

Their were times I stood

my ground.And let it be

known without a sound. My

position was clear.From night

time to daylight sun.My message

was to all those who can hear.

Struggling was a part of

life in it's own measure. Everyday

was like a new story an

adventure.The many times we

fell on this journey. We knew it

wasn't easy.But with a pure heart

and a sound mind, We pursue to

what we know as true.

When I look back at the seed

that was sown and the

times I've grown,is only to much to

mention.From what I was to what I've

become. A color of perfection.

I Am

I am a strong brother with pride look as I walk with my head up and my slow stride! You
know I look good! I see you checking me out and checking me out again! Saying you don't
notice me as you pretend! But I can wait but not for long as the seasons passed and ends,
you know I'm gone! I'm a brother with confidence ! I'm a single dad with two kids,I'm
night school student and a bread winner of a family of six just trying to get by! So don't
be quick to judge. You say you know me but you don't! Even to go out with me you won't. My
strength as a brother comes from not what you see but what comes from me. The
understanding of who I am and where I am going! I can give you my body, I can give you the
world or I can share my life with you. What do you want?

Love

Like an early morning sunrise that speaks to your inner self which finally awakens you on
this day! With a kiss that moves the earth beneath you. The day I let go all insecurities
and fears, yes things will go my way. As I can be with you, just to be still, as our
heartbeats converse which each other. Knowing that's God's will, that we are together.
Waking up every morning to your joy and grace. Is like me being in another world, time and
space. As I shout to the world far and near. It's you I'm going to grow old with and be near!

You Better Ask Somebody

You don't know me. Acting like you do in everything you think you see. Yeah I'm black. But
nothing about that is whack! I see you thinking yeah another under acheiver. But you don't
know me. So why judge me as another ghetto fella. Yeah I know where I live and I know
where I have been. What gives you the right to tell me I could never win. It took a lot to be
where I am now. Thats why I can take a bow. Not every black guy is a gangbanger or a thug.
Drinking forty's out of a mug. Here is my P H D. Better yet guess? You better ask somebody.

The Simple Things

Waking as the dawn breaks out in the early morning and

giving thanks to someone greater than yourself which

is due. For being grateful to live another day

which is the right thing to do.

Welcoming that fresh air again. Is like saying

hello to a new friend. Even as the birds greet

you in song. Your heart leaps for joy urging

you to hum along.Don't forget what heals everyone

around you for more than just a while.

From a grateful heart

showing a pleasant smile.

With these simple things that

can heal your soul.

Making you one with the

world.
