The Power of Hope

I'm climbing the mountain it's cold and wet,
with no companion I'm not completely set.
It's steep but I'm anxious to get up there,
I hear the scenery is beautiful and rare.
Step by step I make my way up,
I take the last sip from the plastic cup.
My foot slips and I land with a thud,
now my leg is gushing with blood.
It was dripping down, the sound of rainfall,
my leg is oh so very painful.
I seek shelter in a nearby hut,
it's getting worse and worse this aching cut.
It's getting dark, the sky starts to dim,
I walk through the hut with my broken limb.
I lay on the cold damp floor,
no windows, a straw wall and half a door.
The roars of the thunder outside scare,
I almost feel like I'm trapped in a nightmare.
I sit in the tiny corner and mope,
all I can do now is pray and hope.
The grumbles of the storm get more and more worse,
with my broken leg all I wish for is a nurse.
In my heart I know rescue will come,
but in the meantime for comfort, I suck my thumb.
The morning arrives,
my instinct tells me I will survive.
I don't believe it, Could it be?!
The sounds of a helicopter come to rescue me.

My Best Friend

When im with anyone else,
I don’t feel like I do,
When im laughing right beside,
Bubby you.

Your my warmth when im cold,
The happiness when im sad,
Your my companion when im alone,
The good to my bad.

Even though we are opposites,
You are like my secret twin,
When Im about to lose,
You make me feel I can win.

You know my weaknesses,
You know my strengths,
You know that for you,
I would go to any lengths.

I whisper my secrets,
Into your ear,
And you let me know,
I should not fear.

Our love is strong,
As friends and sisters,
Nothing can destroy our friendship,
Not even cyclones or twisters.

With a pure soul,
And a good heart,
You let me know,
We will never be apart.

I count myself lucky,
To have a friend like you,
Because without Bianca,
I wouldn’t know what to do.

World Peace

Chess boards, zebras,
dalmatians too,
black and white together,
through and through.

A world with peace,
and no racism,
acceptance of all religions,
including Hinduism.

No one alone,
altogether as one,
sister, brother,
mother and son.

No judgement,
with only acceptance of all,
Big, small, wide,
skinny or tall.

No wars or fighting,
all nations at peace,
Let guns, knives,
and weapons cease.

Although we are one world,
filled with different nations,
We are all the same,
because we are all gods creations.

Friends Forever

It all started when our Mothers were pregnant together,
and now we will always be best friends forever.
They say we resemble poetry in motion,
like we've taken a strong friendship potion.
We have so many great memories with each other,
ones we can share with our kids when we are a mother.
From the age of seven,
until we are in heaven.
We will remain best friends,
until the world ends.
We still have our whole lives ahead yet,
I'm just so glad that we have met.
Because if we didn't I wouldn't know what to do,
about not having a friend just like you.

The Unnoticed

This poem I am writing is about trees,
how they swing and sway in the cool, autumn breeze.
The leaves fall and they tumble onto the ground,
people walking by stomp all around.
Beneath their feet the leaves are crushed,
because people just walked and rushed.
A small, red car drives by the tree,
from the backseat window a girl can see.
She glances at the leaf and couldn't care less,
because she wants to get back to her own mess.
The leaf is now dead, it's pretty unfair,
that poor, poor leaf now full of despair.

A Mother's Love

Mum's love is brighter than the brightest star,
fuller than the local bar.
Longer than the world and back,
even bigger than a running track.
Much more faster than a big jet plane,
even clearer than the drops of rain.
Stronger than the strongest man,
wanted more than a summers tan.
Higher than the willow trees,
As helpful as your apartment keys.
More loving than a teddy bear,
Fresher than a juicy pear.
Deeper than the deep blue sea,
I know she'll love me for eternity.

An Invisible Killer

An invisible killer,
it takes just one puff,
and before you know it,
you can’t get enough.

You thought it was safe,
you thought it was cool,
so you kept on smoking,
you silly fool.

A poisonous danger,
sitting on your tongue
Smoke floating around,
In your precious lung.

Not caring for the mild affect,
Yellow fingers and dull hair.
But what you don’t realise,
Is Death can’t compare.

Unaware of second-hand smoking,
Maybe you will notice,
When your child gets cancer,
And is choking.

Just think for a minute,
What you are doing,
Do you want to die young?
Or continue pursuing?

It may take months,
It make take years,
but at least you’ll still be around,
To love your family and peers.

Dad

There he stands with his grey and white beard,
if you didn’t know him you’d think he’d be feared.
He works as a boiler maker near the sea,
he gets home late, just before tea.
He loving and he’s caring,
he’s helpful and he’s daring.
He sits in his shed, in his backyard,
he works all day and he works real hard.
He snores so loud it rumbles the walls,
the last place you’d find him is in the shopping malls.
I love to dance in our kitchen with him,
But he dances so bad you’d think he’s missing a limb.
He cheers me up when I am sad,
I’m proud to call this man my dad.
