Decoy

Words are just a decoy
An excuse to dance around the truth
Underestimated silence
Proves language is uncouth

Your gut will always tell you
What your heart tries to ignore
Most try their best to silence it
Stirring an internal war

Why deny yourself of happiness?
Why pretend logic is correct?
Why hide behind a curtain?
Why pretend our hearts select?

Ignorance is truly bliss
Too bad that's not our case
Lets take a risk and show our courage
Let our souls meet face to face.

Don'T Forget Your Umbrella

What happens when everyone forgets

Except I, who am not allowed?

They laugh happily under blue skies and golden sun

While I get soaked by pissing clouds.

Ignorance is bliss is an understatement.

Don't forget your umbrella.

Don'T Ever Assume

don't ever assume
when you've only seen the surface - maybe even
scratched through
a few layers -
and figured what was beyond
could only be
similar to what your mind
told you was there

don't ever assume
or listen without ears
or read between the lines
of the lines
that were
really in between the lines

because you end up misjudging
or stereotyping
and closing down your mind -
shutting all the doors
that the truth may enter
sealing out growth
and truth
and life lessons

maybe you judge
because you have all the answers
not for yourself -
but for everyone else
and feel that there are some
you can't possibly learn from

don't stand too high
and look down too far
if you do
you'll end up
at a standstill
looking only at the ground
while others
are zooming by
with their eyes on the road

He'D Just Discovered Suspenders

No job
No prospects
No optimism
It took all his energy
Just to fake a smile
Health eroding
At the speed of light
His world grew smaller by the
second
Former small pleasures
Transformed into ambivalence
Blank and numb
He walked blindly
There were no solutions
To any of his problems
And then one day
Out of the clear blue sky
He smiled without effort
I even caught a glimmer
Of a spark in his eye
Life became a little more
pleasant
We all cheered him on silently
Me his number one fan.

As his confidence had
diminished
His gut had grown larger
He wore his belt below it
But his pants always slid down
Far enough to annoy him
Another problem
With no solution
One day, after months
With the spark in his eye
He chose to die
It was a shock because
He'd just discovered
suspenders.

Shadows of Pain

Hollowed eyes and tortured soul
Spitting words that didn't flow
Forcing smiles that always faded
His memories fond, distorted and jaded
Ups and downs, half smiles and frowns
His mind was spinning round and round
A heart bigger than a sunrise sky
So numbed he left and didn't say goodbye
The darkness seized him, held him tight
Squeezed so hard life became a fight
A fight to eat, a fight to breathe
Hatred flowed and emotions seethed
He never forgot and never forgave
The angst inside him dug his early grave
Handsome groom, number one dad
The best friend I truly ever had
Woke up one day not feeling well
Couldn't take this life in hell
Began his journey to what comes after
Mom comes home, finds him hanging from a rafter
Terror sets in and shock takes over
In a blink of an eye their marriage was over
Two nightmarish calls, one to each daughter
Cries and screams like lambs at the slaughter
And so we march on, soldiers in a state of shock
Thinking it's him, every phone call and knock
Now, I hope, his tortured soul's at peace
But we, the survivors, are haunted with memories and grief
Does the cycle continue - depression and shame?
Will I follow my father through the shadows of pain?

Never

Never did I dream that
So intertwined, so separately
Our paths would cross this way
So intimately, so deeply

Never have my footsteps
So quickly, so easily
Fallen in sync with another's
So naturally, so happily

Never have I felt this way
So scary, so amazing
Grounded while flying
So proud, so full of awe

Never could I truly see
So oblivious, so blind
How ignorant my heart was
So selfish, so masochistic

Never was I treated
So respected, so admired
As a true equal
So fairly, so new

Never have I realized
So depressed, so low
That I have and talents and gifts
So precious, so eye-opening

Never have I loved
So sanely, so smartly
Nor have I been loved
So truly, so honestly.

Never did I dream that
So intertwined, so separately
Our paths would cross this way
So very intimately, so very deeply

Thanks for seeing me
Not my body, not my silhouette
Thanks for being selfless
So rare, so special

Sucker Punch a Lover's Lunch

Sucker punch a lover's lunch
After he's eaten your heart
Knock it out
With your words
Let him know when he is hated

Take it back along with your wrath
When you change your mind
Hold him near
Tell him he's dear
And show him that you love him

Kick his ass with mental jabs
When you're pissed again
Passion's up
And passion's down
Just ride the tidal wave

Sucker punch a lover's lunch
Muster up a lover's lust
Muster up a lover's lunch
But never sucker punch a lover's lust

I See You

I see you
Stealing glances
From the corners of your eyes

I see you
Staring through closed eyelids
When I'm looking the other way

I see you
Not your body
Not your movements

I see you
Not your gestures
Not the armor you wear

I see you
Like a single cell
Under a microscope

I see you
Without my eyes
In the darkest dark

I see you
With my heart
I know you see me too.

Failed To Fail To Live

I almost died last night Just so I could live I've lost myself so much along the way I can't find anything left to give  When I awoke to a new day's light I cried because I was still here I've even failed to fail to live and Living's by far my biggest fear My frantic, honest cry for help Unintentionally manipulative to you Weighed you down with the unfair burden Of a weight you could not have moved I'm sorry, sorry, pathetically sorry I'm so self-centered and insane I expected you to love and walk and guide me It's just so lonely walking in my internal rain
