Forever In Your Debt

I am forever in your debt
As you cast away all of my sorrow
As I can live for today
And be free from tomorrow
I am forever in your debt
For I have learned to guide my own way
Yet with you not far from my side
I may long to live another day
I am forever in your debt
Because it was you who gave me life
Guiding my path in the right direction
Through warmth, devotion, and sacrifice
I am forever in your debt
My eyes may never see the storms of the falling rain
My ears my never hear the roars of the streets
And my heart my never feel the world’s pain
I am forever in your debt
For a true hero lives inside of thee
You are the essence to the definition of strength
A true gift that reflects God’s love for me
I am forever in your debt
For you are the blood that floats through me
You are the reflection of my life’s dream
For you are and have always been the mother I needed you to be

Gary, Indiana

Gary, Indiana is the town where I grew up
Aftermath of gang battles designed our streets
Rage, rap, and rivalry were the three R’s that we learned at school
Yet, this was my hometown, the town where I grew up

In the town where I grew up
Non-violence was considered a thing of the past
Drug dealers and female callers assembled at each corner as men back when
gathered to march
In the town where I grew up
Adolescents were just first round picks for growing gangs
Neighborly love and peace was out of the question
Accidents and incidents were a regular occurrence in this town yet nevertheless this
was my town, the town where I grew up

Deep In My Heart

Deep in my mind rest the place of wonderful memories kept
Joyful times and unforgettable events rewind in my mind like a replay
The dreadful thought of the end to these memories I must accept
Yet my body cannot help but hold a heavy heart on this tragic day

Deep in my heart I hold on to lessons you taught throughout the years
The importance of family, religion, and education pounded into my head is still very
much appreciated
Because although not visible, your spirit will forever be here
Running through the veins of your love ones with all the power and love it
generated

Deep in my sole lies a love that is held to the highest degree
God had truly blessed the world when he created this angel in disguise
On this day, we dedicate the memory of a wonderful woman you could agree
Your generosity and kind words I will forever memorize

Do Not Cry For Me

Do not weep for me,
For I am now in the home of my father in the sky
I feel no more pain within me
My sole was simply reborn; I did not die

Do not cry for me,
For my time on this Earth was full of joy
I hold no regrets and focus not on the “could have been” and the “would be”
I am an angel of God; my now rested body was merely a decoy

Do not moan for me,
For when you speak my name, it should not bring you pain
My death should be a celebration of the meeting with my savior not made into a
tragedy
My good days has over powered my bad days so why should I complain

Do not sob for me,
For your tears will not bring life back into my bones
I am a guarding angel watching over all of my love ones; this is my destiny
I have rejoined my husband and children so worry not because I am not alone

So shed not one tear for me my family and friends
I can see that this day has brought you much distress
However, on this day, I can rest weary bones and my suffering can finally end
So only cry tears of joy because I lived a wonderful life I know I was truly blessed

John Magee

My mind races, my heart smiles as I think of thee
My soul mate, my one true love, my sweet John Magee
He frustrates me when he knows what I’m going to say before I can get it out
One day he will be wrong, but this I greatly doubt
He knows my thoughts and feelings and what satisfies me
He memorized my past and my present; he’s the narrator of my story
God how this man loves me and I am too in love with thee
My future will be forever bright as long as I have my sweet John Magee
People have asked me when was it that I knew I had fallen in love with him
I think hard and then I smile and this is what I say to them:
On the mountain top overlooking the country bay
Is where we met and where many nights we lay
But it was one night I hold dear to my heart for something wonderful occurred on
this particular day
The wind was warm and the sky was clear; I swear you could see the angels kneel
to pray
We had a picnic in the middle of a rose garden, a true love’s portrait for the eyes to
see
Davinci himself couldn’t have painted a more beautiful picture, God it felt like a dream
He stared into my eyes and I stared back, a kind of lovey dovey corny if you could
agree
But then a miracle happened that very moment if you could believe
As he reached and held my hand, the once clear sky was now covered my stars as
leaves cover a tree
I felt a spark and chills begin to rise over me
It was that very moment that I fell in love with my sweet John Magee

History

The front page of the newspaper read “Black Ten Year Old Boy Murdered in
Mississippi Last Night”
A product of a rally that resulted in a racially motivated fight
This reminded me of the years of captivity in which my ancestors faced
Right at that moment, my heart held a feeling that could not be replaced
I went to my grandmother asking why have this took place
She sighed and said to my face
Today is tomorrow, tomorrow is today
Think about what you are thinking and mean what you say
We will always live in the past and nothing else
Because history always, always repeats itself

As I watched TV, there was a news report of a tragic accident
The results of a terrible shootout flashed through the television set in print
A 13-year-old boy murdered 12 of his school peers
The result of constant teasing and growing depression throughout the years
This reminded me of the unforgettable event at a familiar place
Resulting in some dead and many left with problems to face
I went to my grandmother asking why have this took place
She sighed and she said to my face
Today is tomorrow, tomorrow is today
Think about what you are thinking and mean what you say
We will always live in the past and nothing else
Because history always, always repeats itself

As I listen to the radio I hear about conflicts with different rappers; it is sickening
They have no clue of what damage they are causing with all of the foolish bickering
This reminded me of Tupac and Biggie, the famous music war of the season
Now two of the best rappers that lived lost their lives without one good reason
You can still find people mourning over their deaths and see the sadness in their
face
Two great men are now buried lying still in their place
I went to my grandmother asking why have this took place
She sighed and she said to my face
Today is tomorrow, tomorrow is today
Think about what you are thinking and mean what you say
We will always live in the past and nothing else
Because history always, always repeats itself

Remember Me

Remember me,
I am the woman who on that dark Friday night walked alone not knowing what was
to come my way.
I am the woman that endured endless pain from the hands of a stranger taking
advantage of my weakness and immaturity.
I am the woman that on that Friday night laid there in the rain holding what was
once my virgin body but was now condemned and covered in scars and blood.
Remember me,
I am the woman who tried so desperately to hide the 6-week year old pouch that
held the results of the worst day of my life.
I am the woman who was then shammed and disowned by my family after failing
miserably to hide my deepest secret and was now forced to provide for myself and
the child growing inside of me.
I am the same woman who chose not to take the easy route of abortion but to give
my child life because he deserved that much.
Remember me,
I am the woman that went through 19 hours of labor and suffered the worst pain
that ever struck my body.
I am the woman that bore the child of my rapist without any support or anyone to
bring me comfort.
But I am also the same woman that made the toughest decision of my life when I
put you into the arms of another family and said goodbye to you forever.
But remember me,
Because I am the woman who wrote you endless letters every day from your birth
until present day of your 18th birthday.
Because I am the woman who has been to every event in your life without you
knowing, trying to keep my distance yet still remaining close.
Because I am the woman whose life forever changed that dark Friday night yet my
only regret is not being a part of yours.
So remember that you had a mother that loved you so much that she gave up the
only person in her life to ensure that you had a better life than she could provide for
you.
So remember this and remember me forever because I am and will always be your
mother.

My Love Shall Grow

While the birds sore through the sky
And the wolves howl at the moon
While the children begin to cry
And the parents care to their wound
While the ocean’s tides roar at night
And the stars shine bright and glow
While the trees dims the sun’s bright light
Again and again my love shall grow
As the mountains stretch far and wide
And the river sings a song
As the sunset brings a tear to the crowd’s eyes
And each precious day moves along
As a mother cuddles her child close to her heart
And a breeze passes by as the wind begins to blow
As the final touches are put into a work of art
Again and again my love shall grow
When the flowers bloom in the morning sun
And the sky turns colorful after a storm
When two people meet and love is won
And their hearts link and a bond they form
So when the candles burn bright and music fills the room my dear
And our hearts begin to race yet time moves slow
When passion fills the air and you whisper those three words in my ear
Again and again my love shall forever grow
