Happy 10th Anniversary

I’d give you ten reasons why I love you
But I’d rather let you see
That my authority is never above you
To you I owe my loyalty indeed

I’d give you ten reasons why I need you
But ten just wouldn’t be enough
Ten plates of my love I’d feed you
And all your doubts I’d deduct

I’d give you ten reasons why I belong to you
But ten reasons just won’t make it
I want the world to hear about the things we do
My love is for real and I’m unable to fake it

I’d give you ten reasons why you’re beautiful
But I’ll keep the world in suspense
I thank you for love with no rules
And to God I pray we never see its end

Cliched Love

I love you more than the word
May you spread your wings; fly like a bird
If I didn't mean it I wouldn't say it
Would I?

So cliched and yet so true
No less original than I love you
You use me now, and throw me away
But we know we'll make up the following day

Puppets to these emotions
And we all put into play
When all emotion is lost
Lifeless we are left to lie

Used by our hearts
And destroyed when we part
Cry blood when you bid farewell
But still we forgive, Oh well...

In the name of love
The blessing from above
We all stick to the ordinary
And that's cliched love

Hard To Understand

An immortal sadness, an eternal loneliness
Pretentious happiness and painted smiles
A life forcefully lived
And a journey made up of mosaic tiles

A penny for your thoughts
And 2 more rands for your heart
You’re my rose without thorns
Yet still I suffer at your touch

Manipulate me with your charms
And once again get your way
Promise to come back to my arms
And yet another lie it had to stay

I’d rather be your fool then a fool to loneliness
Even if it means dancing to a rhythm less tune
Stupid I remain for your controlling ways
Funny how scent lingers with me right through noon

Chasing Shadows

Dancing with shadows letting my mind go
Dodging love spells aimed at my heart
I guess love is a place one must know
It’s a pity no one knows where to start

Counting stars within your eyes
I’m at a million and four
My insecurities could part the skies
Yet of your affection I need more

Rivers of red flow from my wrists
And in their depth I drown
Love cannot be fought with fists
And pain cannot be healed with a frown

I count the smiles you’ve given to me
And still I’ve come to no conclusion
How could real love be so hard to see?
Cupid please save me from this confusion

My nights have become endless nightmares
And days are like a neighbor to hell
My heart is a kid lost at a funfair
Unfortunately my only pain is that I fell
