REFLECTIONS
Remember when you walked past that mirror and caught a glimpse of your
reflection… but you were too focused on ‘living life’ to stop and admire it?
Were you honestly too busy, or was there some level of subconscious insecurity… a
self imposed tunnel vision…. that drove you to ignore it?
While this moment may seem insignificant, it was precisely at that moment … the
instance when you chose to be oblivious to the beautiful you… that initiated your
demise.
You had no intention to relinquish your confidence… no intention to fumble your oh
so fragile esteem … no intention to forfeit your courage… yet in an instant the plug
was loosened and your inner drain trickled… leaving you ultimately internally
dehydrated of all that defined you.
Maybe you were wrapped up in the common misconception that the only gift this
mirror had to offer was a glorified silhouette… maybe you were momentarily
consumed with physical beauty, therefore this simple act of ignoring your reflection
held no meaning.
We all must stop periodically to soak in the beauty that it us… we all must realize
that being beautiful has nothing to do with being attractive.
Remember when you fell in love because you saw a reflection of you in the eyes of
another?
Ahhhhhh…. There it is!
Please… I urge you all to take time to recollect and acknowledge what makes you
beautiful.
While you may naturally admire another for being seemingly more talented than
you…
You know … that person that always seems to be good at everything he or she
does.
Let your vision not be blurred or skewed… do not associate admiration with envy…
this may lead to internal negativity, causing you to believe that his or her talents
somehow diminish your value or your own self worth.
You, and only you, can deplete your inner core… you must recognize your gift.
IF YOU ARE READING THIS… you have already, possibly unwittingly, begun your re-
awakening… your journey of self discovery.
You have achieved an admirable level of acceptance and depth to appreciate these
words.
You are in touch with your inner energy.
You have allowed yourself to smile from within.
Quite simply… you have consciously become aware of your inner beauty.

Dave Blount Poem
Having your arms wrapped around something that just isn’t there…
When you survive each days’ struggles based simply on a belief, a flicker of hope,
knowing that Angels look over you, knowing that you are loved, knowing that
somehow, some day, your struggles will be justified, and that life as you currently
know it will get better… you believe you serve a purpose… yet there will be times,
even for days on end, when it seems there is literally no evidence that these things
actually exist.
Doubt creeps in causing you to be discouraged… insecure… tears emerge, heart
aches, and you are left with no clarity, no clear direction… no clear purpose.
THIS is the definition of having your arms wrapped around something that just isn’t
there… it hurts, and it can lead to losing that belief, losing faith, losing you.
Consider this:
There is NEVER a clear beginning, middle, or end to life, love, or happiness… so if we
have no clarity, if we can’t physically SEE that we are loved; if we don’t feel hope,
we don’t feel that butterfly on our shoulder signaling the Angels above… does this
mean they don’t exist??
Never, EVER doubt… there will be days that are foggy… there will be days when you
can’t see the sun shine through the blanket of clouds… but even though you can’t
see it, that sun shines unconditionally, beautifully, and brilliantly… and so do you.
If and when you feel completely alone, you must believe that you are not.
When there is nobody there to comfort, encourage and inspire you, you must
believe they exist.
When you’ve lost your direction, and you can’t find (or see) your purpose, you must
believe you will be guided.
Circumstances are only temporary … they can be misleading… just because you are
by yourself, does not mean you are alone.
Just as being attractive has nothing to do with being a beautiful person… you must
learn to rest comfortably in the hands and arms of others, even when their physical
presence does not exist, and especially when your loved ones’ physical presence
will never exist again… you are never alone.

Dave Blount Poem
Are you familiar with the quote “Sometimes joy can be the source of your smile, and
sometimes your smile is the source of your joy”?
I am blessed with an infinitely optimistic, euphoric inner joy, that I hope glows and
sheds its’ brilliant rays of warmth to others …
I believe it will…joy is contagious, and its’ glow comfortably infectious.
Do you ever have those days when you feel utterly and completely alone?
Those days when you expect the phone to ring, yet it remains silent?
You know you are loved, but you have an overwhelming desire for those feelings to
be justified.
You yearn for the affirmation that all you feel, all you believe in, is indeed real.
Yet, this confirmation remains invisible… this is when you must shine!
You must believe that the best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be
seen or touched; they must be felt with the heart.
I look but I cannot see…
Just because I cannot see the top of the staircase, does this mean I should avoid
taking the first step?
I know not where my path will take me, but it is a journey I must make… I will tread
carefully around those that attempt to discourage, those that pessimistically
threaten what defines me, while I look upon them with empathy… for their journey
will forever be more difficult than my own.
I walk with empty pockets, but with a warm, sensitive heart that fulfills my utmost
desires… because I know that, with this heart, I will be wealthy beyond belief…
money is only temporary, my heart will continue to provide because I know I cannot
buy inspiration, courage, compassion, and I know that giving of possessions is
hollow, it is when I give of myself that defines my character, and carries
consequential substance.
So how will you remember me if our paths cross on separate journeys?
You will not need to consciously recollect, hopefully you will feel the fingerprints that
remain because you allowed me to touch your heart.
If you will do this for me, you will become part of the air I breathe; you will become
part of the fuel that drives me… the lives and hearts I’ve touched will provide, and
become the foundation of my perseverance.
For this… I thank you.

Dave Blount Poem
The beautiful character traits that defined you… the same subtly disregarded traits
that seemed to slip away through an inadvertent lack of nurture and appreciation,
have been returned to you….and they are rightfully yours… cherish them.
When we seem to have lost our ability to recognize our greatest qualities, we must
have faith that affirmation will be returned through the hearts of others.
We all possess a ‘lost and found department’ within our hearts that allows us to
identify the artistry within others, and provides the foundation from which theses
traits can be returned if temporarily ‘lost’.
This sanctuary within our hearts allows us to encourage others to shine when their
inner glow has faded… the ability to encourage and inspire others when their core
has become burdened is the greatest gift of all.
If this gift is not shared, do not feel as though it fails to exist, it merely becomes
dormant.
Inspiration… LOVE… must never be selfishly hoarded, you must give it away to allow
it to be returned…and be assured, it will be.
Today I have bestowed my belief in you… will you be accountable for tomorrow?

Dave Blount Poem
On this day… as I hold my hands cupped openly together my love and compassion,
courage and inspiration overflow with a desire to share.
With a gentle breath I blow, asking them to take flight to seek and comfort you.
All that I have, all that I am…on this day, I give to you.
